Role Background

The Field Service and Data Centre Technician carries out physical CIS work: installation and deployment of equipment and sites, cabling and racking, and 'smart hands' interventions and contractor escort in data centres and technical rooms.

The technician often acts under remote direction from specialist teams. Precise execution, verification and reporting are essential to the role.

Role Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out site surveys and prepare sites for deployment (space, power, containment, cabling and network drops).
  • Install, rack, cable and configure CIS equipment; terminate, patch and label copper and fibre cabling and patch panels.
  • Deploy, test and hand over sites or systems; support technical refresh, relocation and deployable CIS activities.
  • Perform smart hands interventions under remote direction: hardware replacement, reseating, power cycling, connectivity checks, cable tracing and labelling.
  • Escort third-party contractors and support data centre access in line with site security procedures.
  • Maintain rack elevations, cabling records and media inventory, and update configuration records after each intervention.
  • Apply health and safety, electrical safety and installation security standards (including TEMPEST requirements where applicable).
  • Verify and report each intervention and record it in the service management system.

Essential Skills, Experience and Certifications

  • Higher vocational training with at least three years, or secondary education with at least five years, of relevant experience in IT installation, field service or data centre operations.
  • Practical experience with structured copper and fibre cabling, termination, testing, patching and labelling.
  • Rack and stack of server, network and storage equipment and hardware replacement.
  • Basic knowledge of networking and server hardware.
  • Awareness of health and safety and electrical safety rules in technical facilities.
  • Ability to follow remote technical direction precisely and to document work accurately.
  • Willingness to travel within the area of responsibility, handle equipment and work extended hours when required.

Desirable Skills, Experience and Certifications

  • Fibre splicing and termination certification (including MTP/MPO).
  • CCNA, CompTIA Network+ or Server+; data centre certification (e.g. CDCP).
  • Knowledge of TEMPEST, zoning and installation security.
  • ITIL Foundation; experience with NATO or military deployable CIS installations.
  • Valid driving licence.

Language Proficiency

  • Professional working proficiency in English, spoken and written (NATO STANAG 6001 SLP 3333 or equivalent desirable).

Working Location

  • Izmir, Türkiye, with support to the CIS Support Element in Ankara and other NATO locations as tasked.

Working Policy

  • On-site and at client locations; extended hours when required.

Travel

  • Regular travel within the area of responsibility; occasional deployment to other NATO or exercise locations.

Work Eligibility

  • Must hold, or be able to obtain before the start date, the right to work and reside in Türkiye (work and residence permit or Turkish citizenship).

  • Valid NATO SECRET personnel security clearance (or national SECRET clearance recognised for NATO SECRET) held at the start of the assignment; NATO SECRET is required for unescorted access to NATO premises.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
