Who We Are

Spot & Tango is a pet health & wellness brand on a mission to make mealtime better for dogs, and life simpler for the people who love them. Our recipes are developed by leading animal nutritionists, and are made with only real, human-grade ingredients... and nothing artificial. Through UnKibble™ and our original fresh-frozen line, we’re rethinking what feeding your dog well can look like, one bowl at a time. Since our founding in 2018, we have served over 200 million meals to happy pets across the US and Canada.

We’re a team of builders, problem solvers and dog people, united by the belief that dogs deserve better. We’re looking for people who want to do the best work of their career, dig into challenges with smart people, and help shape a brand that’s redefining an entire category. This is a chance to join a high-growth e-commerce company and have an outsized impact in a fast-paced, ambitious environment. Plus, you get to think about dogs all day.

Who You Are

We're looking for a highly analytical and intellectually curious Financial Analyst, to join our growing Finance team. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing finance team in an operations-focused role. You’ll have the opportunity to take meaningful ownership, gain broad exposure across the business, and play a key role in building and scaling a best-in-class finance organization.

While FP&A and operations finance are core parts of the role, the opportunity goes beyond traditional financial planning and analysis. You’ll support budgeting and forecasting for key functions, evaluate new business opportunities, and drive strategic initiatives across capital investments, capacity planning, supplier negotiations, facility expansion, and margin improvement in a fast-paced environment.

You'll partner closely with leaders across Finance, Accounting, Operations, Manufacturing, Strategy, and the Executive Team to shape key business decisions. You'll build sophisticated financial models, evaluate strategic investments, influence resource allocation, and deliver the insights that guide the company's growth.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Support inventory and product costing, including standard cost maintenance and month-end inventory reconciliations
  • Build and maintain operational models covering capacity, throughput, labor, and unit costs to support production and staffing decisions
  • Review manufacturing expenses each period and lead monthly budget-vs-actual and forecast-vs-actual reviews with operations leaders. Explain key variances, identify opportunities to improve efficiency and ROI, flag potential risks, and share key insights with finance leadership
  • Partner with Accounting during month-end close by supporting accruals, reconciliations, and reclasses, and performing flux analysis

Business Partnership & Strategic Analysis

  • Partner on the financial evaluation of capital investments, developing business cases, analyzing ROI and payback periods, reviewing post-investment results , and track project spend against approved budgets
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, and plant leadership to inform decisions with accurate, relevant data and analysis
  • Evaluate supplier and manufacturing partner costs to inform negotiations, pricing decisions, and make-vs-buy analysis
  • Provide ad hoc analysis on cost optimization, process improvements, and cross-functional initiatives as the business evolves

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, supply chain or operations finance, manufacturing finance, or management consulting
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or another quantitative discipline
  • Exceptional financial modeling and analytical skills, with demonstrated experience building complex models and working with large, detailed datasets
  • Strong grasp of financial statements and accounting fundamentals
  • Intellectual curiosity and a genuine drive to understand the "why" behind the numbers
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality work
  • Advanced Excel proficiency
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate financial concepts for a non-financial audience and build trusted relationships across the business
  • Demonstrated ability to independently structure ambiguous problems and manage competing priorities

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting a high-growth eCommerce, subscription, DTC, or consumer products business
  • Experience in a manufacturing, CPG, or food production environment
  • Experience with NetSuite and modern BI/reporting tools
  • Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and business case development
  • Dog lovers a plus!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
