Squishable is a close-knit team of designers, artists, pop-culture fanatics, and lovers of all things adorable. Together we create the cutest, cuddliest (and sometimes downright unusual) plush and lifestyle products in the world. With the millions-strong Squishable fan community cheering us on (and a lot of cupcakes, coffee, and karaoke) we make people say “awww.” Our offices are in a sunny SoHo loft in NYC and in downtown Washington, DC.

The ideal candidate is a natural-born leader who loves the store experience. They are passionate, driven, and highly organized, with a desire to bring happiness to people’s lives. They are confident, creative, bright, friendly, adaptable, and able to perform at the highest level consistently. Candidates must be well-spoken and confident interacting with people at all levels while remaining calm and organized at all times.
What does a Squishable General Manager do?
The General Manager oversees the daily operations of the store and is accountable for its sales performance, its team, and its standards. Responsibilities include:
- Leading, motivating, and developing the store team, including hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training
- Setting and executing business strategies for the store in partnership with the Regional Manager
- Opening and closing the store (at times on your own) and taking responsibility for accurate day-start and day-end cash handling
- Ensuring accurate inventory levels and punctual restocking of merchandise on the floor
- Maintaining a high standard of merchandise presentation
- Maintaining enthusiasm and motivation in the store, and ensuring a fun and memorable environment
- Supporting all types of POS transactions and customer inquiries
- Adhering to all company policies, practices, and safety standards
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of retail management experience in a high-volume, fast-paced, challenging, and creative customer-facing environment
- 2–5 years of customer service experience
- Passion for people! A dynamic and engaged leader with a passion for empowering, inspiring, motivating, teaching, and developing team members
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to balance priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced, ever-changing, and highly entrepreneurial environment
- Feedback is a gift! Able to receive and provide constructive feedback and recognition to every team member, so we keep an open and transparent culture of high-performance standards
- High emotional intelligence, with the ability to work with and manage diverse teams by being empathetic, intuitive, self-motivated, and driven
- Teams win! A team player who fosters a collaborative and engaged team environment
- Willing to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Able to transport stock as required, including lifting cartons up to 25 lbs.
- Must be 18 or older
Compensation
Salary range for this position is $70,500-$73,000, plus bonus potential
