Job Description

Sales Executive, Automation – Public Sector (Federal, State & Local)

Location: Washington, DC metropolitan region (DC, Northern Virginia, or Maryland) – residency in the National Capital Region is required

About the Role

SS&C Blue Prism is hiring a senior, self-directed Public Sector hunter to build net-new business across Federal civilian, Department of Defense, and State & Local government accounts. maintaining and generating new opportunities in aligned accounts. We are seeking an accomplished Federal Sales Executive with established agency relationships, a strong hunter mentality, and a proven ability to build pipeline and work closely with our partners, peers and SS&C ecosystem to expand our market share by maintaining and generating new opportunities in aligned accounts.

You are expected to find the opportunity, qualify it against mission and budget, navigate the acquisition process, and bring in technical, partner, and capture resources when the deal warrants them – not before. You will co-sell with our alliance and channel ecosystem (GSIs, resellers, and government aggregators) while remaining personally accountable for the number.

The right candidate has already done this: repeatedly sourced and closed government business from a cold start, knows the difference between a budgeted program and a wish list, and can hold a credible technical conversation with a CIO, a program manager, and a contracting officer in the same week.

Why Join SS&C

SS&C combines proprietary technology with deep industry expertise to support complex financial, health care, and government operations. Our teams design, implement, and operate solutions that help clients manage data, automate processes, and scale their businesses with confidence.

SS&C Blue Prism's intelligent automation platform is deployed in regulated, mission-critical environments worldwide. In the Public Sector you will bring that platform – AI-driven document processing, agentic and robotic process automation, and orchestration – to agencies under real pressure to deliver more with fewer resources.

You will work with industry experts, modern platforms, and evolving technologies, gaining exposure to real-world operational challenges and large-scale enterprise environments, backed by a global partner organization invested in Public Sector growth.

How You Will Make an Impact

Hunt and build pipeline

  • Self-generate the majority of your pipeline through direct outbound, agency and program research, industry events, and partner-sourced leads across Federal, DoD, and State & Local accounts
  • Build and maintain a documented territory plan: target agencies, named programs, funding sources, incumbent landscape, and acquisition timing
  • Qualify rigorously against mission need, budget authority, acquisition path, and executive sponsorship; disqualify early and move on
  • Close new business
  • Own the full sales cycle from first meeting through award, including capture strategy, pricing, teaming, and contract-vehicle selection
  • Sell AI-powered intelligent automation delivered as SaaS, in FedRAMP-authorized cloud environments, and on-premises, matching the deployment model to the agency's security posture and data residency requirements
  • Lead discovery, demonstrations, and proof-of-value scoping with minimal pre-sales support; bring in solution engineering for depth, not for first conversations
  • Navigate government procurement: GSA MAS, NASA SEWP, state cooperative contracts, and partner-held vehicles; work with contracting officers, small-business set-aside structures, and sole-source justifications where appropriate
  • Co-sell with the partner ecosystem
  • You will work hand-in-glove with the SS&C Blue Prism Partner Account team to align partner-sourced and partner-influenced opportunities to your territory plan, ensuring consistent, qualified deal flow in support of each customer’s mission outcomes
  • Run joint pursuit plans with GSIs, Federal and SLED resellers, and aggregators
  • Enable new channel partners on Public Sector positioning and help them become self-sufficient
  • Represent SS&C Blue Prism at Public Sector industry events and associations in the National Capital Region
  • Operate independently and forecast accurately
  • Act as the senior SS&C Blue Prism presence in your accounts; set strategy, run the deal, and escalate only when executive involvement will move the opportunity
  • Maintain a clean, current view of in-quarter and future-quarter opportunities in CRM and deliver forecasts management can plan against
  • Feed market, competitive, and product requirements back to product, marketing, and leadership
  • Travel 30–60% of the time, primarily within the DC region and to state capitals and partner sites

Required Experience

  • Lives in the Washington, DC metropolitan region (DC, Northern Virginia, or Maryland). No relocation; this is a hard requirement.
  • 7+ years selling enterprise software, intelligent automation, AI, workflow, or SaaS solutions into U.S. Federal Government agencies.
  • Demonstrated, verifiable history of self-generated pipeline and net-new logo acquisition in government. Candidates should be prepared to walk through specific opportunities they sourced from cold, the agency and program, how they were qualified, and how they closed.
  • Sold AI-based or machine-learning-driven SaaS software and services into government, delivered both in the cloud and on-premises; able to explain the trade-offs of each deployment model to an agency CIO, CISO, or program owner
  • Consistent attainment against a $1.5M+ annual new-business quota, with examples of multi-year, six- and seven-figure government awards
  • Working knowledge of the Federal and State procurement lifecycle: budget cycles, appropriations and end-of-fiscal-year dynamics, FAR-based contracting, contract vehicles (GSA MAS, SEWP, state cooperatives), set-asides, and teaming
  • Proven experience selling through and with Public Sector channel partners, resellers, aggregators, and systems integrators, including structuring teaming arrangements and managing partner-sourced pursuits
  • Sufficient technical fluency in automation, AI/ML, integration patterns, identity and security controls, and cloud architecture to lead discovery, run initial demonstrations, and scope proofs of value without an engineer in the room
  • Senior enough to own territory strategy, deal strategy, and executive relationships without day-to-day direction; comfortable being the most senior SS&C Blue Prism person in the account
  • Sells to the business and to IT; credible with agency executives, program managers, and contracting officers alike, and able to build long-term relationships at each level
  • Ruthless focus on results (pipeline, revenue, profit), strong organizational skills, clean and timely CRM hygiene, and accurate forecasting
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator, able to produce government-grade proposals, capability statements, and executive briefings

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
