We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive Teaching Assistant to

join our supportive and dedicated team. You will work alongside class teachers to

deliver engaging learning experiences, provide targeted support to pupils, and help

maintain our calm, child-centred environment. This role will include Breakfast club duties and Lunchtime cover.

St George’s is a joyful, family-friendly Roman Catholic primary school in the heart of

York. Rooted in the values of Kindness, Curiosity and Courage, we are dedicated to

helping every child “be the best that they can be – together.” With exceptional outdoor

spaces, a nurturing atmosphere, and a strong sense of community, our school is a calm

and creative oasis for learning.

Catholic schools are welcoming places to pupils and members of staff from all faiths

and none. More than a quarter of a million pupils and almost half of teachers in Catholic

schools are not of the Catholic Faith.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Support teaching and learning across a range of subjects.
  2. Foster a warm, inclusive and respectful classroom atmosphere.
  3. Support the implementation of our positive behaviour strategies.
  4. Uphold and model our school virtues: Kindness, Curiosity, and Courage.
  5. Work in close partnership with teachers, families and the wider school community.

The ideal candidate will:

  1. Be nurturing, reliable and committed to inclusive education.
  2. Share our passion for helping every child reach their full potential.
  3. Be flexible, reflective and eager to learn.
  4. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Embrace the values and Catholic ethos of our school (you do not need to be Catholic to apply).

We can offer:

  1. Enthusiastic children who are curious, independent learners
  2. Excellent personal and professional development opportunities
  3. An experienced and talented team of staff with a supportive Governing Body and wider School Church community
  4. The opportunity to be involved in the wider life of our Trust

If you would like further information or to arrange a visit, please contact the school office at [email protected]

Closing date: Tuesday 10th November 2026, 9am

Interview date: Week commencing 16th November 2026

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
