Start Date: August 2027

Contract type: Yearly; 10-month

School Type: Boarding

Inspire students to think deeply, embrace challenging problems, and discover the beauty and possibilities of mathematics.

Why Join Us

At St. Mark’s, we believe we grow our minds by doing interesting math. Here, you’ll share your enthusiasm for mathematics in a community that values curiosity, creativity, and close connections between teachers and students. You’ll help students discover the beauty of patterns, the power of logical reasoning, and new ways to understand the world. Through thoughtful challenges and encouragement, you’ll guide them to become resourceful, tenacious problem solvers who take intellectual risks and discover they are capable of more than they imagined.

Teaching at St. Mark’s extends beyond the classroom. As a faculty member, you’ll also serve as an advisor, coach, and mentor, helping students navigate school, discover new talents, and build confidence and independence. Our community thrives on collaboration and connection, and we’re looking for educators who are excited to engage fully in all aspects of residential school life.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be a teacher, mentor, and co-creator of learning. Your role will include:

  • Teaching four sections of mathematics across grades 9–12.
  • Designing engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support a diverse community of learners.
  • Providing meaningful, timely feedback that challenges students and supports their growth.
  • Collaborating with department colleagues on curriculum development, course design, and innovative teaching practices.
  • Serving as an advisor and mentor, supporting students academically and personally throughout their St. Mark’s experience.
  • Engaging fully in boarding school life by leading two seasons of co-curricular activities, supervising students during residential evenings, and participating in weekend activities and programs.
  • Building thoughtful, respectful relationships with students and colleagues that strengthen the School’s inclusive and connected community.

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Bring secondary school teaching experience, with two or more years preferred.
  • Be prepared and eager to teach a range of courses from geometry through calculus, with the potential to teach advanced electives.
  • Bring a deep understanding of mathematics and make complex concepts accessible, engaging, and meaningful to high school students.
  • Use inclusive teaching practices to support students from diverse backgrounds and with varied learning needs.
  • Model creativity, flexibility, and intellectual curiosity in the classroom.
  • Collaborate thoughtfully with colleagues and participate fully in boarding school life.
  • Work with adolescents with warmth, empathy, and high expectations.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Use educational technology thoughtfully to support teaching and learning.

Why You’ll Love It Here

Join a close-knit community with opportunities to develop engaging courses and make a meaningful impact beyond the classroom. Benefits include housing, meals, health coverage, tuition remission, and access to campus facilities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
