Stamfles Group is seeking an experienced Senior Sous Chef to join the opening leadership team at Straits Place, an all-day upscale casual dining venue at Somerset Clarke Quay.

The culinary concept features classic European favorites alongside modern European dishes infused with Straits and Asian flavors. Straits Place operates across all meal periods, offering hotel breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner.

For the right candidate, this role offers excellent career advancement opportunities, with scope to take on more senior positions and broader responsibilities as Straits Place and the wider group grow.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth service and high-quality food delivery across all meal periods
  • Support menu development by collaborating on recipe creation, preparation methods, and consistent execution to meet brand standards
  • Maintain food quality by enforcing kitchen hygiene and food safety standards in compliance with regulations
  • Manage ordering, stock levels, food costs, and inventory control to optimize kitchen efficiency and minimize waste
  • Train, guide, and support kitchen team members to enhance skills and maintain consistent performance
  • Coordinate kitchen preparation and service activities for breakfast and all-day dining to ensure timely and efficient operations
  • Take charge of kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef, demonstrating confident leadership and decision-making

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Strong Western culinary background gained from hotel or quality restaurant kitchens
  • Experience as a Sous Chef or in a comparable senior kitchen leadership role
  • Confident leadership and communication skills to manage team dynamics and kitchen workflow
  • Good understanding of kitchen operations including food costing, ordering, and stock control
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently during busy service periods to maintain high standards of consistency
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to lead and motivate the kitchen team effectively
