Mobile / UI/UX Engineer

Stanbridge University | Technology & Product Engineering

Position Summary

Stanbridge University is seeking a highly capable, product-minded Mobile / UI/UX Engineer to design, develop, and enhance our growing ecosystem of student-facing digital platforms.

This mid- to senior-level position combines mobile application development, front-end engineering, and user experience design. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who can translate complex workflows into intuitive, visually compelling, and functional digital experiences—and independently build the solutions they design.

The engineer will initially focus on enhancing existing digital platforms, improving usability, performance, and mobile responsiveness while helping establish a consistent, scalable user experience across the University's broader application ecosystem. The role will also contribute to the design and development of new student-facing applications and emerging digital initiatives.

As our platforms evolve, this position will play an important role in expanding our mobile capabilities, including developing native or cross-platform applications for iOS and Android. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progressively assume greater technical ownership, including independently architecting, developing, and deploying complete mobile applications.

We are seeking a versatile builder who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment, embraces AI-assisted development, and takes ownership of solutions from concept through deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Mobile Application & Front-End Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain responsive, mobile-first web applications and interfaces.
  • Contribute to the architecture, development, and deployment of student-facing mobile applications for iOS and Android.
  • Build reusable, scalable front-end components that support consistent functionality across multiple platforms.
  • Translate product requirements, wireframes, and design concepts into production-ready applications.
  • Optimize applications for performance, responsiveness, accessibility, and usability across devices.
  • Integrate front-end applications with APIs, authentication systems, and existing backend services.

UI/UX Design & Product Experience

  • Own the design and implementation of intuitive, engaging user interfaces and experiences.
  • Develop wireframes, interactive prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity interface designs.
  • Establish and maintain shared design systems, reusable components, and visual standards.
  • Identify usability challenges and implement practical improvements based on user feedback and product requirements.
  • Ensure consistency in navigation, accessibility, responsiveness, and visual design across the University's digital platforms.
  • Balance design quality with technical feasibility, maintainability, and delivery timelines.

Product Engineering & Execution

  • Collaborate directly with engineering and product stakeholders to deliver enhancements across existing and emerging digital platforms.
  • Take ownership of assigned features from initial design through development, testing, deployment, and iteration.
  • Troubleshoot application issues, improve existing functionality, and contribute to ongoing product optimization and stability.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers and other technical teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical planning, architectural discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute as a hands-on individual engineer in a collaborative, AI-enabled development environment.

AI-Assisted Engineering & Innovation

  • Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, prototyping, debugging, and delivery.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment when evaluating, validating, and integrating AI-generated code.
  • Explore emerging technologies and development approaches that improve the student experience.
  • Help establish efficient, repeatable development practices without compromising quality, security, or maintainability.

Required Qualifications

  • Approximately 4–7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on front-end development and experience contributing to mobile application development.
  • Demonstrated experience in front-end software engineering and building production-quality user interfaces.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern front-end development frameworks.
  • Experience with React, Vue, Angular, or comparable component-based frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with mobile application development technologies such as React Native, Flutter, Swift, Kotlin, or comparable frameworks, with an understanding of native or cross-platform mobile development.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement user interfaces using Figma or comparable design platforms.
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, interaction design, accessibility, and responsive, mobile-first development.
  • Experience integrating applications with RESTful APIs or comparable backend services.
  • Familiarity with Git, modern software development workflows, testing, debugging, and CI/CD practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, technical judgment, communication, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience developing, testing, and deploying production mobile applications for iOS or Android.
  • Experience contributing to mobile application architecture, technical design decisions, and scalable application development.
  • Familiarity with mobile application lifecycle management, performance optimization, security, and deployment processes.
  • Experience developing reusable UI component libraries and maintaining shared design systems.
  • Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and modern engineering workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in progressively assuming independent ownership of mobile application architecture and development.

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
