Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Reconciliations Officer to join our Reconciliations CFID team in Johannesburg, South Africa. In this Contract position, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records through meticulous reconciliation processes. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, a commitment to precision, and the ability to work efficiently within established timescales. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to supporting documentation and external statements
  • Analyze variances and investigate outstanding items to determine root causes
  • Prepare detailed reconciliation reports and documentation for audit and management review
  • Maintain accurate records of all reconciliation activities and maintain an organized filing system
  • Liaise with internal departments and external parties to resolve outstanding reconciliation issues
  • Monitor and track payment processing to ensure timely and accurate transaction recording
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of reconciliation procedures and controls
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of reconciliation processes and efficiency

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in reconciliation processes and financial account management
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software applications
  • Solid understanding of general ledger principles and accounting practices
  • Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Desirable experience with ERP systems (such as SAP or Oracle)
  • Desirable knowledge of audit procedures and financial controls
  • Desirable background in financial services, banking, or accounting sectors
  • Desirable advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis functions
