ABOUT STANDARD BOTS

At Standard Bots, we're revolutionizing real-world automation by making robotic systems accessible to everyone. Our AI-powered platform enables robots to tackle unprecedented challenges through an intuitive instruction interface, bringing the power of software automation to physical spaces.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

We're building Bolt, a mobile manipulation platform: an autonomous mobile base carrying our robot arms. We're hiring two Mechanical Engineers to join the Bolt team early in their careers and grow with the product. One will work on the upper body — the structures, mounts, and covers that carry the arms, sensors, and payload on the base. One will support the electrical team and proof-of-concept builds — brackets, enclosures, harness routing, test fixtures, and the quick-turn parts that keep prototypes moving. You'll design in SolidWorks, build what you design, and test it on real robots.

📍 LOCATION

This is an on-site role based at our new Boston-area office, where Bolt is designed, built, and tested, with some flexibility on days in the office once you're up to speed. You'll work next to the build area, electronics lab, and test floor. Relocation assistance is available.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design parts and assemblies in SolidWorks — sheet metal, machined parts, 3D prints, and off-the-shelf hardware — and release drawings with correct tolerances and callouts

- Build and test prototypes: order parts, assemble, instrument, run tests, and document results

- Do first-pass engineering analysis (loads, stress, deflection, fastener sizing) and know when to ask for a deeper look

- Support cross-functional builds with EE, software, and test — fixtures, mounts, cable routing, quick fixes on the floor

- Keep BOMs, drawings, and PDM records accurate through fast design iterations

- Learn the product deeply: assemble robots, tear them down, and find out what breaks

WHO YOU ARE

You're early in your career, you've built real hardware (robotics team, FSAE, rocketry, research lab, internships, or a first job), and you want to work on robots you can watch move. You'd rather be in the shop than in a meeting, you ask good questions, and you finish what you start. On-site presence matters here: the fastest way to learn this job is standing next to the robot.

SKILLS YOU'LL BRING

- Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related, and 0–3 years of hands-on hardware experience (internships and project teams count)

- Fundamentals: Solid grasp of statics, strength of materials, materials selection, and GD&T basics

- Tool Fluency: Proficient in SolidWorks parts, assemblies, and drawings; comfortable with a 3D printer, basic machine tools, and hand tools

- Hands-on: You've assembled, tested, and debugged something physical and can show it

- Clarity of Communication: You write clear test notes and design summaries and ask for help early

- Growth + Optimism: Excited by new domains and challenges, and eager to pick up new context fast

- Excelling in Ambitious Environments: You thrive in a fast-moving team with changing requirements and tight timelines

BONUS POINTS FOR

- Robotics, AMR/AGV, or vehicle project experience

- Basic electrical skills — reading schematics, wiring, crimping, soldering

- Python or scripting for test data

- Sheet metal and machining DFM exposure

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary range for this role is $95,000 to $125,000, depending on experience. Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Standard Bots. All Full-Time Employees are eligible for Employee Stock Options. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
