The posting

Standard Nuclear is fueling America's nuclear renaissance at industrial scale. Our mission is to deliver the essential building blocks of nuclear power—enabling cost-effective, safe, and secure energy for the world.

The Sales Engineer supports Standard Nuclear's commercial activities by translating customer requirements into technically sound proposals, quotations, statements of work, and commercial deliverables. This role works closely with Commercial, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain to develop customer solutions that align with technical capabilities, manufacturing requirements, and business objectives.

This is an individual contributor role responsible for supporting commercial opportunities from initial customer engagement through technical evaluation, proposal development, submission, and handoff into execution. The Sales Engineer will help define technical scope, coordinate pricing and schedule inputs, identify risks, and ensure customer commitments are clearly documented and achievable.

The ideal candidate is technically knowledgeable, commercially minded, highly organized, and comfortable working directly with customers and internal technical teams. Success requires the ability to understand complex engineering requirements, communicate technical information clearly, and independently manage multiple customer requests and proposal deliverables.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Sales & Proposal Development

  • Develop and coordinate technical proposals, quotations, statements of work, and responses to customer requests.
  • Review customer specifications, technical requirements, and commercial expectations to develop accurate proposal content.
  • Prepare technical descriptions, scope summaries, schedules, assumptions, and supporting documentation for customer submissions.
  • Coordinate internal proposal inputs, reviews, and approvals to meet customer deadlines.
  • Maintain visibility of assigned opportunities, proposal status, customer requirements, and outstanding deliverables.

Technical Scope & Engineering Coordination

  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to define technical scope, assumptions, deliverables, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Translate complex technical inputs into clear, customer-facing proposals and commercial documentation.
  • Identify missing requirements, conflicting assumptions, scope gaps, technical risks, and unresolved issues.
  • Work with technical teams to evaluate manufacturing capabilities, technical feasibility, and proposed solutions.
  • Support the transition of awarded work into execution by communicating scope, technical requirements, schedules, and customer commitments.

Pricing & Commercial Development

  • Coordinate with Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Commercial leadership to develop cost estimates and pricing inputs.
  • Support development of pricing structures, commercial assumptions, and proposal economics.
  • Assist with change proposals, contract modifications, amendments, and other commercial documentation.
  • Participate in customer and internal discussions regarding technical scope, pricing, schedules, and commercial terms.
  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy, pricing consistency, and proposal development efficiency.

Commercial Operations & Process Improvement

  • Maintain accurate opportunity, proposal, and customer information within CRM and commercial tracking systems.
  • Track proposal schedules, customer actions, outstanding requirements, and internal commitments.
  • Support improvements to proposal templates, estimating tools, approval workflows, and commercial documentation standards.
  • Assist with reporting related to proposal activity, turnaround times, customer opportunities, and commercial performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve coordination, consistency, and efficiency across technical and commercial processes.

Customer Engagement & Commercial Support

  • Serve as a technical point of contact for assigned customer inquiries, proposal discussions, and commercial opportunities.
  • Support customer meetings, technical presentations, proposal reviews, and commercial discussions.
  • Work with Commercial leadership to advance opportunities, address customer questions, and coordinate follow-up activities.
  • Prepare technical presentations, proposal summaries, and supporting materials for customer and leadership review.
  • Support commercial and government proposal efforts, including technical documentation and customer deliverables.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, Materials, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3–6 years of experience in sales engineering, applications engineering, technical proposals, engineering, commercial operations, or a related technical-commercial role.
  • Ability to understand complex technical products, manufacturing processes, and engineering requirements.
  • Experience developing technical proposals, quotations, statements of work, cost estimates, or customer-facing technical documentation.
  • Experience working directly with engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams to evaluate technical scope and customer requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications, technical drawings, manufacturing capabilities, and project requirements.
  • Understanding of technical cost estimating, pricing inputs, schedules, and commercial proposal development.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple proposals, customer requests, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience supporting customer meetings, technical presentations, and commercial discussions.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, proposal management tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to independently identify technical risks, scope gaps, and unresolved requirements.
  • Experience in nuclear, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, defense, energy, or another highly technical or regulated industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with nuclear fuel manufacturing, materials processing, or related industrial processes is a plus.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
