The Senior Accountant is responsible for key accounting activities supporting the division’s South Carolina and Michigan business units. While maintaining primary responsibility for accounting activities at their assigned site, this role will work collaboratively across both locations to support month-end close, inventory and cost accounting, sales tax compliance, financial reporting, and operational analysis. The Senior Accountant partners closely with site leadership and the broader finance team to ensure accurate financial results, maintain strong internal controls, and provide financial insights that support operational and strategic decision-making across the division. What You’ll Do
Oversee and ensure the timely and efficient processing of Accounts Receivable and Return Material Authorizations (RMAs). Prepare, review and coordinate Capital Expenditure Requests (CER) and Lease Expenditure Requests (LER). Own and support month-end closing activities across the division, including journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and review of financial results.
Maintain primary responsibility for inventory accounting and controls at the assigned site, including cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory reconciliations, adjustments, and variance investigation.
Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, standard costs, and other manufacturing data impacting inventory and product costing.
Perform cost accounting analysis to ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and profitability reporting, including analysis of material, labor, overhead, scrap, and manufacturing variances.
Support sales and use tax compliance activities across the business, including preparation and/or review of filings, reconciliations, exemption documentation, and related research.
Develop and maintain operational and financial reporting for both business units, including labor utilization, scrap, rework, inventory, excess and obsolete reserves, and other key manufacturing metrics.
Collaborate with the Controller and site leadership teams to identify financial variances, trends, risks, and process improvement opportunities.
Partner with Corporate Accounting and Shared Services to support transactional accounting activities and resolve accounting matters.
Prepare and assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements. Prepare and assist with the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely submission in accordance with corporate requirements.
Support internal and external audits and ensure adherence to internal controls, US GAAP, and company accounting policies.
Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, inventory controls, and financial reporting across the division.
Complete special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
Collaborate closely with the Senior Accountant at the other business location to provide cross-site support, coverage, and consistency in accounting practices.
Serve as a financial partner to Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and other functional leaders across both business units.
Work closely with the Controller, Corporate Accounting, and Shared Services to support divisional accounting and reporting needs. Occasional travel required
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
3-5+ years of accounting experience required, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis.
Experience with manufacturing inventory, including BOMs, cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Experience with sales and use tax compliance and related reconciliations.
Strong understanding of cost accounting, standard costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variances.
Working knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls.
Proficiency with ERP systems such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or similar; Epicor experience is a plus. Experience with OneStream, LeaseQuery and BNA Fixed Asset software is a plus.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative finance team.
Ability to build strong working relationships with finance and operational stakeholders.
