Job Description

The Department of Biomedical Data Science at Stanford University, a premier research-intensive intuition is actively recruiting for a dynamic candidate to serve as a Bioinformatician at 100% FTE in the Julia Salzman lab. The Salzman lab uses experimental and statistical tools to construct a high dimensional picture of human, plant and microbial genome and gene regulation statistical analysis of metagenomes, metatranscriptomes and consortia in a new area of research for the laboratory. Duties will focus on running new algorithms developed in the group. For more information on past work, please visit the lab website here: (http://med.stanford.edu/salzmanlab.html).

The Bioinformatician will work in a highly collaborative environment, carry out data analysis and integration, and apply best-in-class algorithms – or develop new algorithms – that directly address the motivating biological questions. Further, the Bioinformatician will develop reproducible and well-documented analytical pipelines for the analysis of high-throughput data, such as novel analysis of DNA-seq and RNA-seq from metagenomics and transcriptomics. Proficiency in high-throughput genomic data analysis and a good understanding of biological systems are required, as are experience in programming and a solid background in statistical analysis. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with members of the research teams are essential to the success of the individual in this position. The successful candidate must be able to learn and work independently, yet collaborate effectively with co-workers. Duties include:

• Prioritize and extract data from a variety of sources such as notes, survey results, medical reports, and laboratory data, and maintain its accuracy and completeness. • Determine additional data collection and reporting requirements. • Design and customize reports based upon data in the database. • Oversee and monitor regulatory compliance for utilization of the data. • Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and eliminate root cause for data problems or justify solutions to be implemented by others. • Create complex charts and databases, perform statistical analyses, and develop graphs and tables for publication and presentation. • Serve as a resource for non-routine inquiries such as requests for statistics or surveys. • Test prototype software and participate in approval and release process for new software.

* - Other duties may also be assigned

The job duties listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification and are not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks, and responsibilities. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary depending on department or program needs without changing the general nature and scope of the job or level of responsibility. Employees may also perform other duties as assigned.

The expected pay range for this position is $108,002 to $128,138 per annum.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
