Every airport, road, bridge, port, or transit project is an opportunity to make communities safer, cleaner, and more resilient. Together, we’re making an impact around the world.

If you’re looking for a career that moves, join our team of professionals who are passionate about the future of transportation.

The maritime industry is expanding and improving port and harbor infrastructure. Join our Ports and Marine team, and let’s navigate these waters together to find solutions for our clients.

Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking an experienced Project Manager to play a key role in the delivery of complex Ports and Marine Terminals projects across British Columbia. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to lead the successful delivery of projects at all phases (planning, design, tendering, construction, maintenance) through conformance to Stantec’s Project Management Framework.

The role offers the unique opportunity to collaborate with an award-winning team of planners, engineers and technologists on multiple projects for a range of public and private sector clients such as container terminals, oil and gas facilities, dry bulk ports, marinas, ferries, coastal structures, wharves, jetties, naval facilities and cruise terminals. You will interface directly with clients, stakeholders, contractors and suppliers to effectively manage project deliverables, with a focus on quality and team collaboration.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute multi-disciplinary engineering projects through all stages including planning, preliminary and detailed design, tender and construction support, and maintenance for ports and marine related projects.
  • Lead the preparation and review of technical deliverables, including drawings, reports, specifications, and schedule and cost estimates.
  • Lead project coordination with clients, contractors, stakeholders, regulatory authorities and reviewing agencies, including project milestones, resource requirements, client expectations and interoffice collaboration.
  • Proactively identify developing technical issues and initiate appropriate corrective actions to support successful project delivery.
  • Develop, monitor, and control project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk
  • Mentor developing team members, providing technical guidance and constructive feedback to develop their design and professional consulting skills.
  • Perform other project management and engineering design duties of a similar nature as required.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated experience in the execution of alternative project delivery for complex multidisciplinary infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients.
  • Ability to maintain the big picture throughout the design and pre-construction process, taking responsibility for meeting client expectations in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent time-management skills with a thorough understanding of task assignment and scheduling, budgeting and structuring efficient uses of time and resources while managing multiple concurrent packages.
  • Strong organizational skills, risk management, project management, and ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
  • Familiarity with transportation or civil infrastructure projects, with a preference for familiarity with ports and marine infrastructure projects.
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to discuss project plans, milestone updates, and technical issues with clients, reviewing agencies, junior and senior staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong computer skills and literacy in scheduling, technical writing, presentation, and other software including MS Office Suite.
  • Willingness to work 3 days a week in downtown Vancouver and commitment to seeing projects through all stages of planning and delivery.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
  • Must be a Licensed Professional Engineer with registration in British Columbia.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in professional engineering services sector with previous experience working with multidisciplinary teams on transportation projects.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation that the selected candidate will work 3 days a week from an office in downtown Vancouver. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
