The posting

SteerBridge is a modern technology company delivering innovative, mission‑focused solutions to the U.S. Government and private sector. Leveraging deep expertise in federal acquisition, digital transformation, and emerging technologies, we deliver agile, commercial‑grade capabilities that accelerate operational effectiveness and drive measurable mission success.

At the core of SteerBridge is our people—especially the veterans whose leadership, problem‑solving mindset, and commitment to excellence elevate every project we support. We don’t simply hire exceptional talent; we cultivate it, creating meaningful career pathways for veterans, military spouses, and professionals who share our passion for advancing technology and strengthening the missions we serve.

Position Overview:

SteerBridge is seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to design the secure, scalable AWS GovCloud architecture behind a mission-critical Defense Aviation platform used by federal customers. This role owns the technical blueprint for environments that support fleet readiness monitoring, maintenance planning, logistics coordination, and operational decision-making.

The architect will work directly with engineers, security architects, data scientists, and product owners to translate mission requirements into well-architected cloud solutions that are secure, resilient, compliant, and cost-effective.

Unlike a purely advisory role, this position stays close to implementation. The ideal candidate can produce architecture and design documentation, prototype solutions, set standards for infrastructure as code, and guide engineering teams through delivery.

SteerBridge applies proven patterns—well-architected design, hardened and STIG-aligned baselines, Medallion data architecture, and automated CI/CD to deliver platforms that meet DoD security and authorization expectations. The architect ensures these patterns are applied consistently across the environment.

This is a hybrid position based in Vienna, VA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design secure, scalable AWS GovCloud architectures for aviation analytics and operational workloads, applying AWS Well-Architected principles across reliability, security, performance efficiency, and cost optimization.
  • Develop architecture diagrams, design documentation, and technical decision records while defining standards for networking, identity, compute, storage, and data services.
  • Embed security and compliance into solution designs through least-privilege IAM, encryption, network segmentation, hardened baselines, auditability, logging, and continuous monitoring.
  • Partner with security architects to align solutions with applicable DoD and DISA frameworks, compliance requirements, and authorization processes.
  • Establish standards for infrastructure as code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines, guide engineering implementation, and lead architecture and design reviews to ensure alignment with approved designs.
  • Evaluate technology options, prototype and validate new patterns and services, and make architecture decisions based on mission requirements, scalability, risk, compliance, and cost.
  • Translate mission and product requirements into technical roadmaps and collaborate with data teams, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to align platform architecture with Medallion data patterns, cloud modernization strategies, and operational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship is required for this position under applicable federal contract requirements. Candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role.
  • 6+ years of cloud experience, including 3+ years in an architecture or lead engineering role.
  • Deep expertise designing AWS solutions across compute, networking, storage, and IAM, with strong knowledge of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and secure cloud design patterns.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), including Terraform or CloudFormation, and implementing CI/CD at scale.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, and network segmentation.
  • Ability to develop clear architecture and technical documentation and communicate complex concepts effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience leading technical delivery across multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience architecting solutions in AWS GovCloud or other federal or highly regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with DoD and DISA compliance requirements, STIG hardening, and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.
  • Experience designing data platforms and Medallion architectures for analytics workloads.
  • Experience deploying containerized application workloads and implementing hybrid networking and DNS solutions.
  • AWS Professional-level certification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
  • Experience supporting aviation, defense, logistics, or fleet management systems.

Benefits

  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Life Insurance
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan with matching
  • Paid Time Off
  • Paid Federal Holidays

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
