StepStone is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join a team at the center of the firm’s private debt business. This is an exciting and highly visible role offering broad exposure to the private debt platform, senior professionals across the firm, and some of StepStone’s largest and most sophisticated institutional clients.

The successful candidate will play an active role in coordinating cross-functional projects and initiatives, working closely with stakeholders across Business Development, Research, Investments, Legal & Compliance, Monitoring and Reporting, and other areas of the firm. The individual will help drive projects forward, coordinate workstreams and deliverables, manage timelines and priorities, and ensure high-quality and timely execution.

The position is well suited to a professional who enjoys taking responsibility, working across multiple teams and managing a diverse range of projects and priorities. The ideal candidate will combine strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities with sound judgment, intellectual curiosity and excellent communication skills. They should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, proactively addressing challenges and engaging effectively with senior stakeholders and sophisticated institutional clients.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and manage specific implementation projects, taking an active project management role and helping ensure projects are delivered effectively and on schedule.
  • Support the ongoing management of existing institutional client relationships, coordinating client requests and working with internal teams to ensure timely and high-quality responses.
  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams across Business Development, Investments, Legal & Compliance, Monitoring, Reporting and other teams, tracking deliverables and following up on outstanding items.
  • Critically review content and information provided by cross-functional teams for accuracy, consistency, relevance and suitability for client-facing materials.
  • Work closely with the Business Development and Investment teams on the design and implementation of private debt investment solutions for institutional clients.
  • Prepare high-quality pitch books, investment proposals and other client materials for institutional investors.
  • Conduct market research and investment performance analysis to support client discussions, product positioning and business development activities.
  • Support and coordinate ad hoc projects and reviews related to the Client Solutions and Product Management functions.
  • Contribute to the development of original content and analysis supporting new business opportunities and broader client engagement activities.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in financial services, ideally within private markets, asset management or a related field.
  • Good understanding of private debt, investment concepts and financial/asset modeling.
  • Experience with or knowledge of the insurance industry and institutional investors is a plus.
  • Highly motivated and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently and adapt to a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities, including the ability to understand, evaluate and clearly articulate complex topics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and senior stakeholders across different functions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, including experience working with complex financial models and developing high-quality presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools, including Copilot and Claude, to improve processes, productivity and quality of output.
  • Strong follow-through and attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy and reliability.
  • Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken, is required.
  • Professional qualifications such as CFA or CAIA are considered a plus.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
