The posting

The Political Science Discipline at St. Norbert College invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position (beginning in August 2027) with a specialization in the areas of Public Law and American Government. Candidates should either be ABD or hold a Ph.D. and be enthusiastic about teaching both introductory and upper-level courses, including Courts, Constitutional Law, Civil Liberties, and introductory American Politics. The ability to teach upper-level courses in parties, elections, Congress, and/or the presidency is a plus. The position includes assisting with pre-law advisement. The teaching load is three or four courses per semester (total of seven courses per year), which typically includes introductory courses and at least one upper-division course per semester. The position is offered as a one-year contract, with the possibility of renewal contingent on a positive annual performance review and/or institutional needs.

Please note that this is an on-site role requiring full-time on-campus attendance.

Candidates should submit a letter of application, CV, and a teaching statement through the “Apply” link found on this page. Student and peer evaluations and syllabi are welcome. Review of applications will begin October 9 and continue until the position is filled.

Candidates are asked to submit a separate 1-page statement describing how they envision contributing to and supporting the mission and values of St. Norbert College through their teaching, scholarship, and service. Candidates are highly encouraged to read the College’s Catholic, Liberal Arts, and Norbertine identity statements as well as Ex Corde Ecclesiae, with an emphasis on these specific passages, and address how they could participate in the educational vision laid out in these documents.

Questions regarding the position should be addressed to Jamie Lynch at [email protected] or Wendy Scattergood at [email protected] .

About St. Norbert College:

St. Norbert College, located on the ancestral home of the Menominee Nation, is a thriving, nationally ranked Catholic liberal arts college known for its academic excellence, global focus, and leadership and service opportunities. We acknowledge the living history and contributions of the Indigenous communities that inhabited this land prior to the establishment of St. Norbert College, as well as the sovereign Native American Nations who continue to contribute to the flourishing of our communities.

Situated on an attractive, riverside campus in De Pere, Wisconsin -- a community contiguous with the city of Green Bay–St. Norbert is the only college in the world sponsored by the Norbertines, a Catholic order devoted to community, education, and serving the needs of others.

St. Norbert College (SNC), a Catholic, Norbertine, and Liberal Arts College, provides an educational environment that fosters intellectual, spiritual, and personal development. As the only Norbertine institution of higher learning in the world, our roots, traditions, and commitments create a unique and enriching educational experience for our students. At SNC, our commitment to communio – the Norbertine ideal of a community united as one – is grounded in the principles of dignity, truth, and justice. Consistent with these principles, St. Norbert is proud to provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment. We seek those who will embrace our mission and commitment to building a vibrant, inclusive, and spiritually engaged community (https://snc.edu/mission).

As one of the nation’s top Catholic liberal arts colleges, St. Norbert builds on the beliefs and practices of an ancient religious order while responding to the current needs of its students and communities. Today at St. Norbert College, the spirit of Norbert of Xanten, who founded the Norbertine order of priests in the twelfth century, lives through this modern, bustling community dedicated to transforming and empowering its students. The college has seen remarkable development in the past decade, particularly the construction and renovation of more than $150 million in campus facilities and infrastructure.

At St. Norbert College, a holistic approach to students characterizes the curriculum and classroom; faculty use their award-winning research to challenge and encourage students to greater curiosity, and students learn and collaborate both in and outside the classroom in an integrated experience. St. Norbert College is organized into three academic divisions – Arts and Sciences, Health and Human Development, and the Donald J. Schneider School of Business & Economics.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
