From the enterprise to asset level, we provide clients with strategy, management, and technical support to translate bold commitments into impact. Our global team delivers on client ambitions across programs and projects worldwide. Together we will deliver high-performance real estate in pursuit of Stok’s purpose: to boldly catalyze an environmentally restorative and socially equitable world.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the full lifecycle of commissioning projects, from scoping to closeout, including 75%+ direct project work and oversight of annual revenue portfolios of $250K+.
  • Scope and plan small to mid-size projects independently, developing detailed estimates, budgets, timelines, and deliverables in collaboration with internal and external teams.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building trust through transparency, reliability, and proactive communication.
  • Translate strategic client goals into tactical project execution, navigating between big-picture outcomes and technical details.
  • Direct and support cross-disciplinary teams of professionals, coordinating closely with project coordinators and engineers while fostering development and accountability.
  • Navigate and lead diverse and complex engagements, including multi-stakeholder or geographically distributed teams.
  • Identify and pursue adjacent or vertically integrated opportunities that enhance client value and deepen partnerships.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate project-related contracts and documentation in collaboration with design and construction teams.
  • Monitor and manage financial health across projects, including earned revenue, forecasting, and risk mitigation.
  • Champion quality, ethics, and professionalism in every aspect of delivery, upholding Stok’s purpose and client promise.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5–10 years of technical experience in building commissioning, MEP design, energy consulting, or related fields, with a minimum of 3 years in a project management role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the full lifecycle of commissioning projects independently, including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and client engagement.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems in commercial buildings; able to interpret and apply construction documents and specifications.
  • Familiarity with commissioning best practices and standards (ASHRAE, LEED, CALGreen, Title 24).
  • Experience coordinating across multiple disciplines and working with diverse teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering (or similar technical discipline).
  • CxA and PE preferred; other relevant credentials (e.g., BCxP, LEED AP) are also valued.
  • Skilled in financial oversight of projects, including forecasting, earned revenue tracking, and risk management.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, especially in client-facing and team leadership settings.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role:

  • Ability to independently lead multiple projects, manage delivery teams, and exceed expectations across scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Strong financial acumen, including forecasting, budgeting, and managing earned revenue against targets.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to identify opportunities beyond the immediate project scope and coordinate cross-functionally to deliver value.
  • Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, teams, and stakeholders through honest, open communication.
  • A balance of systems thinking and executional precision — knowing when to zoom out and when to go deep.
  • Comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy, while contributing to a team culture grounded in feedback, impact, and learning.
  • A values-aligned mindset that supports Stok’s commitment to environmental restoration and social equity.

Additional experience we’d be excited for you to bring (not required, but a bonus to our team and our clients):

Guidelines for using AI in our interviewing process

As your prospective employer, Stok wants to get to know the authentic, not the artificial, you. We believe we can unlock true human potential when we add the right person to the right team at the right time. This approach serves the candidate and the team, leading to synergistic outcomes. To get this right, we need to be able to get to know you – your intelligence, your skills, and your experience. We look to uncover these things, how you personally align with our company values, as well as your ability to think and perform independently in real-time.

Stok continues to learn about and experiment with AI, however, we know that many tasks cannot be replaced by AI. Here is where we expect you to use AI and where we do not:

  • Resume and cover letter: AI assistance is acceptable; however, we expect these materials to represent your true qualifications and skills accurately
  • Phone and video interviews: AI assistance is not acceptable; we ask that you engage in our interviews without reading from or referencing AI-generated answers
  • Assessment and take-home assignments: AI assistance is not acceptable; any submissions should reflect your original conclusions and perspectives

If we detect that you are using AI without permission or advance disclosure, your candidacy may be disqualified.

Knowing that the way we work with AI may change over time, we will regularly check back on our approach to AI in our hiring process to stay values-aligned, in compliance with current legislation, and mitigate potential biases in our processes.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
