The Program

This role is part of the Research and Development Engineering Development Program, designed to cultivate engineering and leadership skills across key areas of Stryker’s innovation ecosystem. Engineers in this program will participate in on-site functional rotations within R&D gaining hands-on experience in critical aspects of medical device development. The program spans 20 months, beginning each September, and includes comprehensive training in both technical and professional competencies. Participants will also benefit from exposure to Senior Leadership and networking opportunities across Stryker’s global business units.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: What you will do:

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical components for medical devices.
  • Apply circuit and electrical system test methods.
  • Assist with prototyping and bench testing.
  • Support problem solving, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against requirements.
  • Under supervision, conduct research and studies to support product design.

Business Responsibilities:

  • Interpret customer needs and understands design inputs.
  • Understand the product’s intended use and clinical procedures.

Med Device Compliance:

  • Understand fundamental industry standards, design requirements and test strategies which align with regulatory requirements.
  • With supervision, create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file per company design control procedures.
  • Learn R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.

General Responsibilities:

  • Work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success and contribute to the project as a team member.
  • Learn procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology required.
  • Work on problems in limited scope; purposefully learn while gaining experience.
  • Demonstrate ownership and integrity of work.
  • Build stable relationships.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: What you will need (strongly desired):

Technical Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical components and manufacturing methods.
  • Basic ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Basic understanding of the electrical design process.
  • Knowledge of design and concept generation CAD, CAE, or simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of analysis tools and statistical methods.
  • Knowledge of system components and associated requirements.

Preferred Skills / Engineering tools:

  • Familiarity with Altium Designer
  • Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness.
  • Designs, develops, executes testing to define or assess product specifications
  • Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce engineering drawings.
  • Utilizes MATLAB, Python, C++ or other tools to develop concepts and prototypes to select and refine designs.
  • Prior experience with robotic or other electro-mechanical systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB or scripting languages required.
  • Data analysis and statistics experience with Minitab is preferred.
  • This position requires knowledge that is acquired through experience, specialized education or training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: What you will need (must have):

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics Engineering, Electrical Enginering, or related discipline & 0+ years of work experience.
  • We will only consider candidates with graduation dates of December 2026 or Spring 2027.

United States of America Pay Ranges:

  • USN: $77,700 - $129,500 USD Annual
  • US5: $81,600 - $136,000 USD Annual
  • US10: $85,500 - $142,500 USD Annual
  • US15: $89,400 - $148,900 USD Annual
  • US20: $93,200 - $155,400 USD Annual
  • US30: $101,000 - $168,400 USD Annual
