Working at Stubbers.

Stubbers is operational 7 days a week from 8:30am till 6pm, welcoming a wide range of customers throughout the year.

Our activities team works with school and youth groups from the age of 3+, families, community groups and corporate clients, delivering safe, engaging and memorable experiences across our wide range of activities.

Instructors move between different activities and groups, working across land, water-based, target and team building activities providing safe, professional and engaging outdoor activities.

At the weekends and during school holidays, the centre welcomes families and individuals, requiring instructors to adapt their approach.

Residential groups add another dimension to the role. While the centre itself closes at 6pm, residential clients may participate in an evening activity, meaning instructors can be required to work beyond the standard daytime operation until 9pm.

Ultimately, the role is about creating safe, memorable and positive experiences for every customer - from a three year old experiencing their first adventure activity to a corporate team taking on a new challenge.

Responsibilities.

Activity Leadership:

  • Prepare and plan for each activity, ensuring you have all necessary equipment and safety gear.
  • Conduct thorough briefings before each session, outlining safety protocols and what participants can expect.

Safety Protocols:

  • Familiarise yourself with industry-standard safety procedures for climbing, water sports, and target shooting.
  • Regularly check equipment and facilities to ensure they meet safety standards.

Supportive Environment:

  • Encourage open communication, allowing participants to express their concerns or fears.
  • Use positive reinforcement to motivate participants, celebrating their achievements, no matter how small.

Instruction Adaptation:

  • Assess the skill levels of participants and tailor your instruction accordingly.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods (demonstrations, hands-on practice, verbal instructions) to cater to different learning styles.

Inspiration and Motivation:

  • Share personal stories or experiences that highlight the benefits of outdoor activities.
  • Set achievable goals for participants to help them track their progress and build confidence.

Activity Checks and Maintenance:

  • Regularly inspect all equipment and facilities to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Report any issues promptly and assist in maintenance tasks as needed.

Interdepartmental Support:

  • Be flexible and willing to assist in other areas, such as the kitchen or welcome centre, as required.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while helping out in different departments, as this fosters teamwork.

If you have any questions or would like more details, please contact Shelley at [email protected].

Having the right qualifications is essential for ensuring that all staff at Stubbers Adventure Centre can deliver the high-quality, safe, and professional experience our guests expect. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
