Running a large, fast-growing, and high-performing network of public charter schools takes a village - families, children, teachers, staff and faculty, advocates, and supporters alike. We are growing fast in New York and expanding to Florida, and we would love to welcome you to our community! We work tirelessly every day to ensure children have access to a fun, rigorous, whole-child education regardless of zip code or economic status. When you join SA, you play a part in giving every student who walks through our doors a fair shot at reaching his or her potential.

About the Role

As the fastest-growing, highest-performing charter school network in New York State, Success Academy has reimagined public education. Nationally recognized for achieving outstanding academic results for students from all backgrounds and zip codes, we have created an innovative K-12 school model that prepares current and future generations of children with the subject mastery and skills needed to succeed in college and life.

A key element of our K-12 model, our English program is designed to cultivate a life-long love of reading, an appreciation for language and literature, and literary taste. It produces well-read graduates who are capable thinkers and clear and effective communicators. Reporting to the Leader of K-12 English, the Associate/Specialist, K-12 English, will design, write, and revise new and existing English course materials aligned to this programmatic vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Writing rigorous, engaging, and college-preparatory curriculum centered on rich texts, critical analysis, and academic writing
  • Curating high-merit texts and creating all necessary lesson materials - educator-facing text analysis, discussion and writing prompts, scholar-facing tasks and assessments, et cetera - for assigned units of study
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to support the successful implementation of the English program in our schools
  • Completing ad hoc tasks, projects, and initiatives to support our Education Institute department and school-based educators as needed.

Qualifications

  • A 4-year college degree with an outstanding record of academic achievement and leadership
  • Demonstrated content knowledge and expertise in English literature and writing or a related field through relevant coursework or experience
  • For Specialist, 2+ years of relevant professional experience

Competencies

  • Exceptional writing ability: Produces a high volume of precise, compelling curriculum materials that communicate sophisticated literary ideas to a broad audience with clarity, simplicity, and intellectual rigor
  • Strong attention to detail: Produces polished, error-free materials that meet the highest standards of quality for an audience of hundreds of educators and more than 20,000 scholars
  • Flexibility and efficiency: Manages multiple projects and priorities at once, adapts to changing needs, and produces high-quality work at a rapid pace
  • Ownership and judgment: Works autonomously and exercises sound judgment to move projects forward, solve problems, and deliver on priorities
  • Pragmatism: Balances ambitious instructional goals and high intellectual standards with the clarity, simplicity, and practicality needed to implement materials effectively at scale
  • Collaboration: Works effectively with others, engages thoughtfully with colleagues, and supports the work of the team and department
  • Learner mindset: Is eager to learn, asks thoughtful questions, and sees out feedback to continuously improve

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
