Job Description:

The Opportunity

Hitachi Energy is seeking an Account Director, Utility to manage and grow a strategic utility customer relationship in the St. Louis, Missouri area. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of connection between the customer and Hitachi Energy, coordinating resources across multiple business units to deliver value throughout the customer lifecycle. You will work closely with utility executives, operational stakeholders, and technical teams to understand business priorities, identify opportunities, and support the successful delivery of solutions that improve grid reliability, operational performance, and long-term infrastructure planning. This position combines strategic account management, customer relationship development, commercial leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. You will help shape account strategies, support complex negotiations, manage critical customer issues, and facilitate collaboration among technical, project, and business teams. Your work will contribute to the modernization and resilience of the power grid while helping customers address evolving energy challenges and achieve their business goals.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Manage the overall relationship with a strategic utility account and serve as the primary customer contact.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with customer stakeholders, including senior executives.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans that align customer priorities with available solutions and services.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to support customer initiatives and business growth opportunities.
  • Identify, prioritize, and advance opportunities that increase customer value and account growth.
  • Facilitate complex commercial discussions and negotiations with customer organizations.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction, address significant issues, and support timely resolution of concerns.
  • Maintain awareness of customer strategies, industry trends, market developments, and emerging business needs.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical (engineering) or business discipline required.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in customer-facing sales, preferably within the energy industry.
  • Experience working with a variety of products, customers, market segments, or geographic regions.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a matrixed organization.
  • Experience in customer relationship management, sales, and problem resolution.
  • Ability to motivate, influence, and collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Sound business acumen with an understanding of customer and market dynamics.
