As a key member of the Hitachi Energy Finance Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CFO and partnering closely with the CEO, you will define and drive the company's risk management strategy, governance framework, and risk culture. In this highly visible leadership role, you will work across Business Units and Functions to ensure risks and opportunities are proactively identified, assessed, and managed to support sustainable growth and profitability.

You will act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, championing best-in-class risk management practices while enabling informed business decisions throughout the organization.

The location for this role is flexible within Europe, and will be determined in later stages.

How you will make an impact

  • Strategy & Governance: Define, implement, and continuously improve the global Risk Management framework, policies, procedures, and governance processes in alignment with Hitachi Energy requirements and corporate directives.
  • Risk Leadership: Lead the development and execution of the company's risk management strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and long-term growth ambitions.
  • Business Partnership: Partner closely with Business Units and leadership teams to support effective risk-based decision making during tendering, project execution, and strategic initiatives.
  • Risk Reviews & Oversight: Lead Risk Review and Project Review processes, monitor enterprise risk exposure, and ensure lessons learned are embedded across the organization.
  • Performance & Reporting: Provide comprehensive risk reporting, insights, and recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team, ensuring transparency and informed decision making.
  • Compliance & Controls: Monitor adherence to governance requirements, risk policies, and authorization frameworks through KPIs, business intelligence tools, and management reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive ongoing enhancement of risk management methodologies, tools, processes, and organizational practices to strengthen risk awareness and operational excellence.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including Hitachi Corporate, GEM Sector, Business Unit leadership, customers, and industry peers.
  • Capability Building: Develop and implement a comprehensive competency framework for the global Risk Management community and promote a strong risk-aware culture throughout the organization.
  • People Leadership: Coach, mentor, and develop risk management professionals, fostering collaboration, expertise, and high performance across the organization.
  • Safety & Integrity: Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity, governance, and compliance, while actively supporting Hitachi Energy's values and culture.

Your Background

  • Master's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Law, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in Risk Management, Sales, Tendering, Project Management, Contract Management, or related disciplines.
  • Proven experience within an international, project-based business environment.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise risk management, governance frameworks, and business controls.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to evaluate risks and opportunities across the full value chain.
  • Demonstrated experience influencing senior stakeholders and executive leadership teams.
  • Strong knowledge of project execution, contract management, financial performance, and margin protection strategies.
  • Track record of leading organizational improvement initiatives and driving change in complex global environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are considered an advantage.
