About the Job

SuperSummary is looking for a Senior Content Designer to grow our library of reading resources by spotting what readers need and building it. Reporting to the Head of Product, you will own the content experience from the reader’s point of view: talking to readers to find new content opportunities, prototyping concepts, and turning the ones that work into content we can produce at scale.

Our content is our primary value driver, and our biggest opportunities come from rethinking existing formats or inventing new kinds of content that readers want. You will help shape our content bets, from our biggest initiatives to quick experiments. You will validate opportunities with research and benchmarking, prototype the content yourself, refine the prompts that produce it, and hand well-defined concepts to the product team for development. You will also raise the bar on product copy and content structure across the product.

The ideal candidate pairs strong editorial taste with fluency in user research, design, and AI. You are comfortable talking directly to readers, you form a point of view quickly and test it, and you hold AI-generated content to the same standard as hand-written work. SuperSummary helps book club members, avid readers, and academic audiences understand and enjoy books, and you share their passion for reading.

This is a part-time contract role.

What You’ll Do

Discover and Validate Content Opportunities

  • Talk to readers regularly through interviews, surveys, reviews, and support conversations to find gaps in what our content gives them
  • Partner with CX to turn incoming reader feedback, such as Trustpilot reviews and NPS comments, into content opportunities
  • Validate each opportunity with user research, competitive benchmarking, SEO and keyword demand, and behavioral data before investing in it, using AI tools to speed up research and synthesis
  • Challenge long-standing assumptions about our content and bring a clear, well-reasoned point of view on which opportunities to pursue first

Prototype New Content Concepts

  • Build realistic prototypes of new content with AI, using real titles and real data, so the team has something concrete to react to
  • Explore several directions quickly and narrow to the strongest one before asking for broader feedback
  • Ground every concept in strong design and usability principles so content is easy to scan, navigate, and use, especially on mobile
  • Partner with product managers and designers on how new content will appear in the product

Scale Content Through Prompts and QA

  • Iterate on the prompts and content guidelines that generate approved concepts until the output is consistently strong
  • Run QA with the Content team across a wide range of titles to make sure quality holds beyond the best examples, holding AI-generated content to the same bar as hand-written work
  • Hand well-defined concepts to the product manager for development and testing, and stay involved as results come in
  • Turn launch results into clear learnings and next steps

Raise the Bar on Product Copy and Content Structure

  • Write and review high-visibility product copy, and help designers and PMs improve through clear, structured feedback
  • Own and maintain the team’s copy guidelines and AI copy tools so the whole team can produce stronger first drafts
  • Share AI practices that help the Content and Design teams move faster without sacrificing quality
  • Improve how Study Guides, Plot Summaries, and other content are organized and navigated, with search visibility in mind
  • Keep the product voice consistent with CX and marketing messaging

Sample Projects

  • New Content Format: Identify a reader need through interviews and feedback, prototype a new content type using real titles, and refine the prompts until it holds up across the library
  • Study Guide Restructure: Rework how a Study Guide is organized and navigated to improve findability on mobile and in search
  • Reader Feedback Pipeline: Partner with CX to turn Trustpilot reviews, NPS comments, and support conversations into a prioritized list of content opportunities
  • Copy Guidelines Refresh: Audit high-visibility product copy, update the team’s copy guidelines, and build AI copy tools that raise the quality of first drafts
  • Content QA at Scale: Design and run a QA process with the Content team to confirm a new concept meets the quality bar across a wide range of titles

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in content design, content strategy, or digital editorial work, including shaping content for a digital product or publication
  • A genuine passion for books, reading, and book clubs, and excitement to bring more value to readers
  • Experience taking new content concepts from idea to launch, with the research, prototypes, and decisions to show for it
  • Comfort talking directly to users, including running interviews, writing surveys, and turning what you hear into clear recommendations
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to research, prototype, and generate content, and the ability to iterate on prompts until the output meets a high bar
  • Comfort in standard design tools such as Figma, with the ability to mock up how content will look and work in the product
  • Strong editorial taste and excellent writing skills, especially for clear, benefit-driven product copy
  • Understanding of how content structure affects usability and search, and the ability to use keyword research to validate demand and shape how content is organized
  • Opinionated and self-directed: you form a point of view quickly, test it, and change course when the evidence says to
  • Native or near-native written and spoken English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on SEO experience, including keyword research and optimizing content for organic search
  • Experience with Study Guides, test prep, edtech, or other educational content
  • Experience designing content for AI-generated experiences or working on prompt quality at scale
  • Strong visual or UX design skills that go beyond content mockups
  • Familiarity with tools in our stack, including Claude, Figma, Amplitude, Clarity, Sprig, Notion, and Linear

Benefits

  • Work with a distributed, global team in Latin America, Europe, and the US that has been remote-first since 2018
  • Remote — US-based (location flexible within the United States).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
