The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a QA Engineer Team Lead based in India.

Join a growing software engineering team and take ownership of quality assurance strategies across a diverse range of software development projects. In this leadership role, you will combine hands-on testing expertise with team management to ensure the delivery of reliable, high-quality software products. You will drive test automation initiatives, establish effective testing practices, and collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and senior stakeholders. Beyond technical execution, you will mentor QA engineers, support their professional development, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. This fully remote opportunity offers an international working environment where innovation, teamwork, and quality are central to success. You will play a strategic role in aligning engineering quality with business objectives while helping build a high-performing QA team.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases covering functional, non-functional, regression, performance, and accessibility testing.
  • Review test cases, automation scripts, and testing results to ensure accuracy, coverage, and alignment with business requirements.
  • Identify, document, track, and communicate software defects using appropriate bug-tracking tools.
  • Analyse testing metrics and results to identify trends, evaluate product quality, and recommend process improvements.
  • Lead test automation initiatives by developing, maintaining, and enhancing automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Appium, or Playwright.
  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to understand requirements and establish effective testing strategies.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Lead and manage a team of QA Engineers, overseeing workload distribution, performance, engagement, and career development.
  • Mentor team members by providing technical guidance, coaching, and consistent QA best practices.
  • Establish clear team objectives aligned with departmental and organisational goals while supporting motivation, retention, and professional growth.
  • Contribute to QA resource planning, staffing decisions, and recruitment activities, including reviewing assessments, interviewing candidates, and supporting hiring decisions for junior and mid-level QA roles.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align quality objectives with business priorities and communicate quality insights across teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the QA function and across engineering teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional Quality Assurance experience, with a strong focus on functional and automated testing.
  • 1–2 years of formal people-management experience, or a combination of people management and technical leadership experience involving delivery ownership, mentoring, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Appium, or Playwright.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum software development environments.
  • Practical experience with frontend and backend testing, including web applications, APIs, services, integrations, and data validation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex systems and resolve challenging testing issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate QA engineers while managing team performance and development.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management skills, including experience working with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred qualifications: Experience defining QA metrics and scaling testing processes across teams or organisations.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered productivity platforms such as Claude, Copilot, or ChatGPT, alongside an understanding of LLMs and multi-agent systems in Quality Engineering use cases.
  • Competitive annual base salary of $29,000–$36,000 USD.
  • Fully remote, full-time employment from India.
  • Monday-to-Friday schedule, with a minimum of 4–5 hours of daily overlap with 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time.
  • Comprehensive and affordable medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options.
  • Competitive Provident Fund contributions.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Mental health support and employee wellbeing programmes.
  • Company-provided equipment and a one-time $250 USD work-from-home stipend.
  • Annual professional development budget of $750 USD for learning and career growth.
  • Company rewards and recognition programme.
  • Employee ownership programme offering financial participation in company growth and achievements.
  • Work-life balance initiatives and wellness programmes.
  • Career development opportunities through hands-on training, professional development, and internal mobility.
  • Inclusive workplace culture that values diversity, teamwork, respect, innovation, and individual contributions.
  • Opportunities to participate in charitable initiatives, community contributions, and employee-led giving programmes.
  • Regular employee feedback opportunities through town halls, one-on-one meetings, and company-wide initiatives.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
