This position will support energy efficiency, building electrification, code compliance, and green building certification projects throughout the Northeast. Our high-growth environment and commitment to best practices provide employees with flexibility and a forward-thinking culture that fosters leadership, creativity, and ingenuity.

Grow both Personally and Professionally. Be a key contributor to developing systems and processes that will support our team for years to come. We offer continuing education, professional development, and training opportunities in energy efficiency, building performance, and green building certifications.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop baseline and proposed whole-building energy models using eQUEST, OpenStudio/EnergyPlus, IES-VE, Trane TRACE 3D Plus, Carrier HAP, or similar software.
  • Perform ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G performance-based modeling and prepare energy models for IECC compliance, LEED, ENERGY STAR, Passive House, and other green building certification programs.
  • Review architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building envelope drawings and specifications to identify energy modeling inputs and opportunities for improved building performance.
  • Analyze mechanical systems, including heat pumps, VRF, geothermal, and high-efficiency domestic hot water systems.
  • Perform weather-normalized utility analysis and calibrate existing building energy models using utility data in accordance with ASHRAE Guideline 14.
  • Conduct ASHRAE Level II energy audits and prepare energy savings calculations to evaluate energy conservation measures.
  • Support modeling for building decarbonization requirements, stretch energy codes, and local regulations such as NYC Local Law 97 and Boston BERDO.
  • Evaluate renewable energy and energy storage systems, including solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, geothermal, and battery storage technologies.
  • Prepare technical reports summarizing energy modeling results and recommending cost-effective energy improvements.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and internal project teams to support energy-efficient building design and green building program compliance.
  • Travel to project sites as needed to conduct inspections and verify energy efficiency measures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant energy engineering or building energy modeling experience.
  • Experience with ASHRAE 90.1 whole-building energy modeling, including Appendix G.
  • Proficiency with energy modeling software such as eQUEST, OpenStudio/EnergyPlus, IES-VE, Trane TRACE, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of building science, energy codes, and green building programs.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with LEED, ENERGY STAR, Enterprise Green Communities, Passive House, or similar certification programs.
  • Experience with building commissioning, energy auditing, or existing building retrofits.
  • Knowledge of building electrification, decarbonization, and renewable energy systems.
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu.
  • OSHA 10 certification.

Primary Skills:

  • Relentless customer focus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Strong ability to independently set priorities, maintain a schedule, and use different communication methods to collaborate with a geographically diverse team.
  • Ability and desire to interact with a wide range of existing and potential customers on a daily basis.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of building construction techniques, green building programs and techniques, and multifamily housing.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: $72,000–$100,000, depending on experience.
  • Generous 401(k) match (100% up to 6% of salary).
  • Health coverage stipend.
  • Unlimited paid time off.
  • Professional development and continuing education opportunities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
