The posting

Are you an experienced Estimator with solid end-to-end tendering experience within commercial construction? We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-owned roofing and cladding contractor delivering projects across the commercial, industrial and residential sectors throughout South East Queensland. With a client base spanning smaller local builders through to Tier 1 head contractors, and all work self-performed by in-house trades, this is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of the estimating function within a business that has built its reputation on quality and reliability. The Role: As the sole Estimator, you'll be reporting directly to the Director and owning the process from take-off through to submission and follow-up. In addition, you will also be assisting with Contract Administration, fully supported by two experienced administrators, with this taking up around 30% of your time, with the remaining 70% of your role focussed on Estimating. Complete quantity take-offs from plans and specifications. Price materials, labour, plant and subcontractors to produce accurate, profitable quotations. Prepare and submit tenders end to end, including work sourced through EstimateOne. Maintain supplier pricing and subcontractor databases. Follow up submissions and help convert opportunities into won contracts. Review contracts and tender documentation, assisting in identifying commercial risk early. Manage variations, scope changes and revised pricing. Monitor project costs and commercial performance through delivery. Liaise with builders, suppliers, subcontractors and internal delivery teams. About You: To be successful, you'll ideally have: A minimum of 4-5 years' estimating experience within construction, on the contractor side rather than sales or client-side estimating. Proven end-to-end tendering experience, from take-off through to submission and follow-up. The ability to read plans and produce accurate take-offs with confidence. Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail. The organisational skills to run multiple live tenders against competing deadlines. The autonomy to manage the estimating function without day-to-day supervision. Metal roofing or cladding experience is highly regarded but not essential. A trade background, contract administration exposure or experience with BuildXact will also be well received but is not essential. The business currently uses BuildXact and is open to you bringing across any software you know and prefer. What's On Offer: Salary $150,000 - $165,000 + superannuation.
