Job Description

Why S&W?

At S&W, we believe a great early career experience is about more than just the work you do. It's about the people you learn from, the relationships you build and the experiences that help shape your future. Whether that's developing new skills, growing your confidence or celebrating success with your colleagues, you'll be part of a team that supports you to be yourself and succeed.

During your internship, you'll contribute to meaningful work, learn from experienced professionals and gain first-hand insight into life in professional services.

As one of the UK's fastest-growing accountancy and advisory firms, we offer a balance of opportunity and support. Your internship is a chance to experience life at S&W first-hand, get to know our people and culture, and explore what a future career with us could look like.

We see our interns as future talent, which is why many go on to secure a place on one of our Graduate programmes after completing their degree.

No previous experience in accountancy, finance or professional services is required. We're looking for people who are curious, motivated and eager to learn. What matters most is your attitude, potential and willingness to get involved.

The Forensics team at S&W

Our Forensics team combines specialist expertise with extensive experience of working alongside the legal profession. We support both corporate and private clients on a wide range of complex and high-profile matters, with our partners recognised as leaders in their fields and experienced Expert Witnesses.

We provide forensic accounting and forensic technology services across a broad range of areas, including dispute resolution, fraud and bribery investigations, private client disputes, personal injury claims, and Competition and Monitoring Trustee services, both in the UK and internationally. This means you'll gain insight into how financial and technological expertise can be applied to solve real-world business and legal challenges.

What will you be doing?

As a Forensics Intern, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals and gain exposure to a variety of forensic assignments. You'll develop your analytical skills, learn about the different services we offer, and gain valuable insight into a specialist area of professional services.

Over the course of the internship, you'll gain valuable insight into life at S&W, develop professional skills, expand your network and build a deeper understanding of the opportunities available in Audit & Assurance.

You'll join as part of a cohort and benefit from support from colleagues across the business, giving you the opportunity to learn from people at different stages of their careers and build connections that last beyond the programme.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing an understanding of the different services offered within the Forensic Services team
  • Assisting with the analysis of financial documents, including financial statements, bank statements, and other sources of information
  • Conducting research and using available data sources to support forensic investigations and analysis
  • Documenting and presenting your findings clearly and accurately
  • Taking ownership of allocated tasks and delivering high-quality work as part of a collaborative team

You'll be someone who:

  • Is naturally curious, eager to learn and open to new challenges
  • Communicates well, builds positive relationships and collaborates effectively with others
  • Has a keen eye for detail and enjoys solving problems
  • Is organised, willing to take ownership and able to manage competing priorities
  • Is interested in understanding how businesses operate and the challenges they face

You'll also need to:

  • Be available for the full duration of the internship programme (28th June – 6th August)
  • Be in your penultimate year of university
  • Be on track to achieve at least a 2:2 degree in any discipline
  • Have a minimum of 112 UCAS points from your top three A Levels (or equivalent), excluding General Studies
  • Have achieved a minimum Grade 5 (or equivalent) in GCSE English Language and Maths

No previous experience in accountancy, finance or professional services is required, and we welcome applications from all degree disciplines.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

We are proud to value the differences that a diverse workforce brings, representative of society and our clients. At S&W we have a wide range of highly active employee resource groups and we’re delivering multiple diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives across the organisation. It is our commitment to provide a workspace where all colleagues, regardless of identity, background, or circumstance, feel respected as individuals and feel that they can achieve their full potential and work in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.

We are happy to make any reasonable adjustments to accommodate for your needs throughout the application process. Please let your Recruiter know.

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR COMPLETING YOUR APPLICATION

When you click on the 'I'm interested' button, you'll be taken to your profile page. We're currently updating it, but in the meantime:

  • We can only accept one application to any of our programmes in a recruitment season. If you're unsuccessful, you'll need to wait until the following recruitment season to reapply.
  • Under the Resume (CV) section, uploading a document is mandatory; however, it will not be formally reviewed.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
