The posting

Syfe is APAC's largest and fastest-growing digital wealth platform, trusted with over US$10 billion in assets. We are fundamentally changing how hundreds of thousands of people across Asia-Pacific build wealth through a holistic approach to managing money rather than just pushing investment products. Backed by world-class investors and recognised as a leader in WealthTech, we are a team of passionate builders creating the future of wealth management.

The Right Profile

We're looking for a Legal Counsel to join Syfe's Legal, Risk & Compliance team, reporting to the General Counsel. You'll be the go-to legal partner for a fast-growing, Singapore-headquartered business with regional ambitions — advising on contracts, corporate and company law matters, new products, and market expansion, with financial regulation at the heart of the role as an MAS-licensed entity. You'll build breadth across corporate secretarial, employment, data protection, and IP work, while having the room to focus and develop real expertise as a financial regulatory lawyer. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with your Compliance and Risk colleagues in the same team, including on fraud and incident matters that need legal input. It's ideal for a lawyer who wants to grow into a recognised financial regulatory specialist, grounded in strong all-round legal skills.

Key Responsibilities

Core Legal

  • Provide day-to-day legal support across Syfe's operations and external interfaces, as a trusted, commercially minded business partner to every team.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts — including vendor, technology, partnership, distribution, and customer-facing terms — and maintain templates and playbooks to make routine contracting faster.
  • Support transactional work and company projects involving structuring, strategic partnerships, investments, fundraising, and acquisitions, from term sheet through to completion.
  • Manage corporate secretarial and company law matters across Syfe's group entities, including board and shareholder resolutions, statutory filings and registers, director and officer appointments, share issuances, and day-to-day corporate governance.
  • Advise on a range of legal areas as they arise, including employment (contracts, policies, and employee relations), data protection, intellectual property, disputes, and other matters relevant to a fast-growing fintech.
  • Manage claims, complaints, and disputes, working with external counsel on litigation or other proceedings where needed.
  • Advise on new products and the expansion of Syfe's business, both locally and regionally.
  • Manage external counsel and advisers to support complex company projects.

Financial Regulatory

  • Advise on the regulatory implications of new products, features, and market entry under Syfe's MAS licence and regional regimes, and support licensing and engagement with regulators across the region.
  • Provide legal input on regulatory policies and procedures, including AML/CFT, and review compliance alerts and breaches escalated for legal review, including investigations into potential non-compliance incidents, partnering closely with Compliance.

Collaboration & Ways of Working

  • Coordinate and work closely with other departments, including the Product, Operations, and Investment Advisory teams, and partner with your Risk colleagues in the Legal, Risk & Compliance team on fraud and incident matters they primarily lead, bringing a legal lens to support their handling.
  • Bring an 'AI-first' mindset to legal work — using AI tools responsibly to speed up research, drafting, and document review, and helping the team find new ways to automate routine work.

Qualifications

  • Law degree and qualified to practise, with 4–8 years' post-qualification experience (PQE), preferably including some years in private practice at a reputable law firm. Strong in-house counsel are also welcome.
  • A desire to build strong all-round corporate and commercial legal skills — across contracts, company law, employment, data protection, IP, and disputes — while developing deep expertise as a financial regulatory lawyer.
  • Broad experience across corporate and commercial matters, with some exposure to regulatory work in financial services.
  • Strong interest in fintech, financial services, and investments.
  • Commercially minded, able to give insight above and beyond repeating regulatory requirements.
  • Independent and task-oriented, enjoys autonomy, and is meticulous with great attention to detail.
  • Able to work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advising on financial services, funds, asset or wealth management, or fintech — whether in private practice or in-house.
  • Experience across more than one jurisdiction in the region, in corporate secretarial and company law matters, or in corporate and transactional work such as partnerships, investments, or M&A. Licence application experience with regulators such as MAS or the SFC is a plus.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience incorporating AI tools into your legal workflows — for example contract review, legal research, or drafting — with sound judgment on confidentiality and privilege — and familiarity with RegTech or legal-tech platforms.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
