The posting

  The Opportunity:   Leads and/or conducts quality assurance testing of business software applications and/or smaller projects to ensure reliability, functionality, and successful implementation in accordance with the SDLC. Leads junior QA Analysts during Testing Phases and QA effort and provides coaching and mentoring to help develop their capabilities. This is a hybrid role with flexible onsite expectations, typically 1 to 2 days per week. New employees are expected to be onsite 2 to 3 times a week during their first three months to support onboarding and collaboration.   About The Role:

Analyze business and product requirements to design high level testing approach for smaller projects in accordance with industry and Symcor standards and software development best practices in order to ensure that testing will validate the business functionality. Liaise with subject matter experts, development team, implementation support and production support staff to define testing specifications as required. Recommend product and business solution improvements for future releases. Provide input into implementation of the application solution. Identify efficient testing solutions for all requirements. Convert business requirements into test cases. Fix product defects and develop regressions tests. Provide accurate and timely estimates for work efforts, both for a single change request and small project initiative. In collaboration with key stakeholders, contribute to the development of the test strategy and test plan and provide testing support for smaller projects to ensure the delivery of key projects and support initiatives that meet business and client needs in accordance with Symcor’s requirements and standards. Effective and timely identification of quality issues and risks. Effective and timely identification and resolution of barriers to test execution. Support the completion of required documentation in a clear, complete, and accurate format (e.g., test strategy, test plan). Provide QA project Status feedback. Participate in continuous improvement within Quality Assurance and Test Execution in order to deliver a functional, reliable and available solution to clients and the business in the most efficient, effective and timely way. Review and recommend test automation. Review and recommend industry standard with respect to testing tools, process and methodology (e.g., Agile). Identify gaps in current processes and procedures and contribute to process improvements/make recommendations for improvement. Coach and mentor the most junior Quality Analysts, including identifying skill gaps, delegating tasks, explaining concepts and strategies, and reviewing testing issues related to smaller projects to develop the capability of the team, ensuring work is completed to industry and Symcor best practices and standards.

  What You Need to Succeed:   Education:

College diploma or undergraduate university degree in a related discipline (e.g., Computer Science) or a combination of experience, education and/or training deemed to be equivalent.

Experience:

Typically has 5-10 years of testing experience in a QA environment. 5+ years of experience with automated regression test tools and building and maintaining the automated test scripts.

  Skill requirements

Proven history or writing and maintaining test cases, test plans and test scripts. Excellent comprehension of QA process and methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle. Excellent knowledge in MS Word, MS Project, MS Excel and Visio.
