Job Overview:

DEFEND is seeking a versatile Field Producer & Editor who can find the story, earn the shot, capture it in the moment, and turn it into content people want to stop, watch, share, and act on.

This role will be central to DEFEND’s growing field-content engine. You will travel to construction sites, farms, ranches, rural properties, trade shows, customer locations, and other real-world environments to document the people and places DEFEND serves. One day, you may be interviewing a contractor protecting equipment at a jobsite; the next, capturing a rancher’s setup, surprising a customer with a camera giveaway, or producing quick-turn content from a trade show floor.

The right person is equally comfortable behind the camera, in an edit, and talking with customers in the field. You understand how to create content that feels native to each platform, earns attention in the first seconds, and turns real customer proof into short- form series, standalone social content, product education, lower-funnel creative, and longer-form video.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce and capture authentic DEFEND content in the field, including at customer sites, jobsites, farms, ranches, trade shows, product demonstrations, company events, and in-office settings. You will document real people and real work in a way that feels credible, useful, and true to the DEFEND brand.
  • Own shoots from preparation through delivery, including researching subjects, planning story angles, coordinating logistics, securing releases, interviewing customers, capturing video and photography, organizing footage, editing deliverables, and preparing assets for distribution. You will be trusted to make strong creative decisions in fast-moving, sometimes unpredictable field conditions.
  • Create native short-form content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and paid social. You will understand how to use a strong hook, clear visual proof, concise storytelling, platform-appropriate pacing, captions, and a relevant call to action to earn attention and engagement.
  • Help develop and produce recurring DEFEND content series. This could include DEFEND the Workforce customer stories, jobsite walkthroughs, setup and installation content, field tests, trade-show moments, customer giveaways, tips from the field, “day in the life” content, and other concepts that turn customer truths into followable programming.
  • Edit a high volume of content into multiple useful formats without treating every channel as the same. A field shoot may become a customer feature, several short-form videos, product demos, social cutdowns, behind-the-scenes footage, paid-media variations, still images, and evergreen content for the website or sales teams.
  • Work closely with the Head of Content, Social Media Manager, Performance Marketing, and broader creative team to bring content briefs to life. You will help ensure the team has the right assets to support campaigns, product priorities, customer questions, and always-on social publishing.
  • Capture lower-funnel and educational content that helps customers understand where DEFEND fits, how it works, and why it is different. This includes creating clear, compelling proof for people looking for security beyond the limits of Wi-Fi and reliable power access.
  • Review performance feedback and audience response with the team, using results to improve the next round of content. You will learn from hook rate, watch time, completion rate, engagement, click-through rate, comments, and customer conversations—not simply produce content and move on.
  • Maintain an organized, usable library of raw footage, final edits, photography, releases, project files, and platform-ready exports. Your work will help create a durable content library that can be reused across organic social, paid media, e- commerce, email, sales enablement, and future campaigns.
  • Represent DEFEND well in the field by being professional, curious, dependable, and respectful of customers’ time and environments. You should be comfortable approaching people, building quick rapport, and helping tradespeople, property owners, farmers, and ranchers feel natural on camera.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience producing and editing video or social-first content for a brand, agency, production company, creator business, publisher, or related environment. A strong portfolio that demonstrates effective short-form work and real storytelling matters more than a specific title.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently shoot and edit polished, engaging content. You should be comfortable operating cameras, audio equipment, lighting, gimbals, drones where properly certified and permitted, and mobile-production tools as appropriate to the assignment.
  • Proficiency in professional editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools. Experience with After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom, CapCut, and platform-native editing tools is a strong plus.
  • Strong instincts for social-first storytelling, especially the ability to create compelling openings, clear narratives, useful demonstrations, credible customer proof, and edits that hold attention. You understand that great content needs to work without relying on a big production budget or overly polished staging.
  • Experience interviewing or directing nonprofessional talent is strongly preferred. You know how to put real customers at ease, ask thoughtful questions, and capture honest, natural moments rather than scripted testimonials.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including travel to jobsites, farms, ranches, trade shows, rural locations, and customer properties. You are comfortable working outdoors and adapting to changing weather, noise, lighting, schedules, and field conditions.
  • Excellent organization, follow-through, and communication. You can manage equipment, media, files, deadlines, footage handoffs, revision cycles, and multiple active assignments without losing the creative thread

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with construction, trades, agriculture, ranching, rural- property, security, outdoor, consumer-technology, or blue-collar audiences. You understand that credibility comes from respecting the people, work, and environments being documented.
  • Experience creating content for customer-led campaigns, branded series, trade shows, product launches, or performance-marketing creative. Familiarity with platform analytics and creative testing is valuable.
  • FAA Part 107 drone certification, or the ability and willingness to obtain it, is a plus.

What Success Looks Like In the first 90 days, you will become a dependable extension of the DEFEND content team: understanding the brand, building trust with customers and partners, producing strong short-form work, and contributing to a consistent pipeline of field-driven content.

Over time, success means DEFEND has more authentic stories from the people it serves, more high-performing social and paid assets, a deeper evergreen content library, and a repeatable production rhythm that helps the brand show up consistently wherever its audiences spend time.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
