Manage the procurement of equipment, spare parts, consumables and services for diving teams, dive boats, ROV operations and workshop activities. Ensure the correct items are available when needed, within approved budgets and technical requirements.
Roles and responsibilities
1. Technical purchasing
Work with dive supervisors and maintenance personnel to confirm specifications, part numbers, compatibility, quantities and delivery requirements before purchasing.
2. Supplier sourcing and quotation comparison
Source suitable suppliers, obtain quotations and compare technical suitability, price, lead time, freight, warranty and payment terms. Maintain reliable suppliers and alternative sources for critical items.
3. Purchase orders and approvals
Prepare purchase orders, obtain the required approvals and confirm suppliers' acceptance. Do not substitute parts or change specifications without technical approval.
4. Delivery and logistics
Follow up outstanding orders and arrange delivery to the workshop, dive boats or job locations. Escalate delays early and propose alternatives for approval.
5. Critical spares and inventory
Maintain stock records with the storekeeper, monitor minimum stock levels and arrange replenishment. Track the issue, return and transfer of tools, equipment and spare parts.
6. Repairs and servicing
Coordinate approved external repairs, servicing, testing and calibration. Track turnaround times, repair costs, service reports and equipment returns with the maintenance team.
7. Receiving and quality checks
Check delivered quantities and part numbers against orders. Arrange technical acceptance by authorised personnel and resolve shortages, damage, incorrect supplies and warranty claims.
8. Equipment documentation
Maintain certificates, serial numbers, manuals, service records and warranty information. Track upcoming service or certificate dates and notify the responsible technical personnel.
9. Cost control and invoices
Record expenditure against the relevant boat, equipment or job. Match invoices to approved orders and delivery records, resolve discrepancies with Finance and identify savings without compromising safety or suitability.
10. Weekly reporting
Report outstanding purchases, critical stock shortages, delayed repairs, upcoming servicing requirements and matters requiring management decisions.
