SUMMARY Tamarack Resort is seeking a licensed Journeyman HVAC / Refrigeration Technician to join our growing in-house Mechanical Division (Tamarack Resort Mechanical – TRM). This position supports resort operations, property management, rental units, and private homeowner properties throughout the resort community. The ideal candidate will be a skilled, self-motivated technician capable of diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems in a high-altitude mountain environment with extreme seasonal temperature swings. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, mini-splits, and air conditioning units - Service and repair commercial and residential refrigeration equipment (walk-in coolers/freezers, ice machines, reach-ins, and related systems) - Perform seasonal maintenance, system startups, winterization, and preventive service on resort facilities and managed properties - Respond to emergency service calls, including no-heat, freeze-related, and refrigeration failures, often under time-sensitive conditions - Install and replace HVAC and refrigeration equipment as needed - Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and inventory of parts/tools - Coordinate with Property Management, Facilities, and other resort departments - Follow all safety protocols and Idaho licensing requirements - Assist with the setup and support of smart water monitoring systems (Moen Flo) and related mechanical projects as the division expands - Provide excellent customer service to homeowners, guests, and internal resort teams REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Current Idaho Journeyman HVAC license (or ability to obtain reciprocity quickly) - EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (required) - Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a journeyman-level HVAC/refrigeration technician - Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills on both residential and commercial systems - Experience with high-efficiency equipment, heat pumps, and refrigeration systems - Valid driver’s license and clean driving record - Ability to work independently in a remote mountain location - Comfortable working in extreme weather conditions (high altitude, cold winters, summer heat) - Strong communication skills and professional appearance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience with commercial refrigeration (walk-ins, ice machines, etc.) - Familiarity with boilers, hydronic systems, or multi-zone systems - Experience in resort, hospitality, or multi-family property maintenance - Additional manufacturer certifications (Carrier, Trane, Mitsubishi, etc.) - Basic knowledge of plumbing or electrical systems (helpful for cross-training) SCHEDULE & WORK ENVIRONMENT - Full-time position - Regular schedule with rotating on-call responsibilities for after-hours and weekend emergencies - Work is performed both indoors and outdoors year-round at a high-elevation mountain resort - Physical requirements include lifting up to 50+ lbs, working in tight spaces, climbing ladders, and performing work in varying weather conditions COMPENSATION & BENEFITS - Competitive hourly wage based on experience (Journeyman pay scale wages) - Benefits package (details provided during interview process) - Opportunity to grow with a new in-house mechanical division supporting a premier four-season resort - Work in a beautiful mountain setting with access to resort amenities How to Apply Interested candidates should submit a resume and brief cover letter outlining their relevant HVAC/refrigeration experience and licensing status to Tamarack careers page on company website.
