The posting

Company Overview

Tango Therapeutics is a biotechnology company dedicated to discovering novel drug targets and delivering the next generation of precision medicine for the treatment of cancer.

Using an approach that starts and ends with patients, Tango leverages the genetic principle of synthetic lethality to discover and develop therapies that take aim at critical targets in cancer.

This includes expanding the universe of precision oncology targets into novel areas such as tumor suppressor gene loss and their contribution to the ability of cancer cells to evade immune cell killing.

Tango’s labs and offices are located at 201 Brookline Avenue, in the vibrant Fenway area of Boston, Massachusetts.

Summary

The Senior Vice President (SVP), Global & US Medical Affairs is a critical enterprise leader responsible for defining, building, and executing a unified, world-class medical affairs strategy for Tango Therapeutics on a global scale. As Tango transitions from a research-stage biotech into a fully integrated commercial organization, this executive will build and scale the global and US medical infrastructure required to support the successful launch and lifecycle management of our precision synthetic lethality oral oncology medicines.

Reporting directly to the Chief Commercialization Officer (CCO) and serving as a key member of the Commercial Leadership Team, the SVP will act as the senior physician leader and strategic bridge between clinical development, regulatory affairs, and commercialization. This leader will ensure that the clinical promise of our assets is translated into robust, globally aligned scientific narratives, driving external engagement, evidence generation, and medical education to support patient access and optimize product value worldwide.

Your Role:

Global & US Strategic Leadership and Cross-Functional Integration

  • Unified Strategy: Develop, articulate, and execute an integrated Global and US Medical Affairs strategy that aligns with overall corporate objectives, clinical development plans, and global commercial strategies
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as a critical strategic medical partner to internal stakeholders (Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, and Commercial) to ensure that the Global Medical Affairs strategy seamlessly supports early-stage asset development and transitions pipeline assets into successful commercial products
  • Commercial Alignment: Provide strategic medical input into global commercial plans, marketing materials, and product positioning to ensure scientific integrity and alignment with clinical realities across all target markets
  • Lifecycle Management: Synthesize complex clinical/scientific data and global insights from the medical community to proactively inform clinical trial design, target product profiles, and lifecycle management plans

External Engagement & Global KOL Strategy

  • Senior Scientific Voice: Act as the primary physician leader, company spokesperson, and external scientific representative for Tango Therapeutics in both US and international markets
  • KOL Development: Identify, cultivate, and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with global and regional key opinion leaders (KOLs), clinical investigators, health systems, medical societies, and academic institutions, particularly within the oncology space
  • Field Medical Leadership: Provide strategic direction to the US Field Medical team and guide the expansion of an international field medical strategy, ensuring deep scientific exchange, gathering of clinical insights, and support for investigator-initiated studies (IIS)

Evidence Generation, Medical Communication & Patient Focus

  • Evidence Generation (HEOR & RWE): Serve as the medical lead for pre-launch, launch, and post-launch evidence generation globally, and oversee strategies for real-world evidence (RWE) to support the global value proposition of Tango's portfolio
  • Scientific Communications: Oversee the development and execution of a strategic global publication plan, scientific communication strategy, and core global materials (e.g., congress plans), ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant dissemination of clinical data
  • Medical Information & Education: Establish and oversee the Medical Information function to provide accurate, balanced responses to unsolicited inquiries globally; manage strategies for continuing medical education and early access/expanded access programs
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all Medical Affairs activities are conducted with the highest level of integrity and in full compliance with applicable legal, regulatory (e.g., FDA, EMA), and ethical guidelines, providing medical governance oversight for promotional materials

What You Bring:

Education & Experience

  • Advanced clinical degree required (MD or DO strongly preferred; PharmD or PhD considered with exceptional clinical oncology experience)
  • Specialized clinical training in oncology (Board Certification preferred)
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with significant tenure in senior Medical Affairs leadership roles (VP or above) specifically within oncology or precision medicine
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing Medical Affairs strategies on both a US and Global scale
  • Proven track record of supporting successful product launches and managing marketed products in oncology
  • Extensive experience recruiting, building, scaling, and mentoring a best-in-class Medical Affairs organization (including field medical, medical information, and HEOR) during a company's transition from clinical stage to commercialization

Core Competencies

  • Comprehensive understanding of global clinical development processes, international regulatory environments, and diverse healthcare access landscapes
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to effectively collaborate with commercial counterparts and translate complex scientific data into strategic corporate initiatives
  • Exceptional executive presence, interpersonal, and communication skills, with an established, high-level network of relationships among global oncology KOLs

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
