This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests, employees, talent, and property while ensuring security operations remain consistent with Tao Hospitality Group standards. The Security Manager will serve as a senior field leader, providing direct oversight of security personnel and supervisors across multiple venues. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, sound judgment, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to effectively manage security operations in nightlife and hospitality environments. This position requires a hands-on leader who can balance security, hospitality, and operational demands while maintaining strong relationships with venue leadership, security vendors, employees, guests, and law enforcement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Oversee security operations across multiple Tao Hospitality Group venues
  • Conduct regular venue visits and operational inspections to ensure security standards are consistently maintained
  • Ensure venues are properly staffed and security personnel are positioned appropriately based on anticipated business levels, events, and operational needs
  • Monitor opening, operating, and closing procedures and identify potential security vulnerabilities
  • Ensure security teams maintain a professional, visible, and guest focused presence
  • Identify operational deficiencies and work with venue and security leadership to implement corrective measures
  • Supervise and evaluate security supervisors and other assigned security personnel
  • Ensure personnel report on time, properly equipped, professionally dressed, and prepared for their assignments
  • Conduct and participate in preshift briefings and ensure personnel understand venue specific expectations, current concerns, BOLOs, and special event requirements
  • Coach security personnel on professionalism, deescalation, guest interaction, access control, and emergency response
  • Address performance issues and recommend additional training or corrective action when necessary
  • Promote a professional security culture focused on solutions rather than confrontation
  • Respond to significant incidents, emergencies, and security related issues
  • Take command of significant incidents until an appropriate resolution or transfer of responsibility occurs
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and professional incident reporting
  • Review security reports for completeness, accuracy, and consistency
  • Identify recurring incidents and develop strategies to reduce future risk
  • Maintain professional working relationships with NYPD
  • Coordinate with law enforcement regarding significant incidents, investigations, trespass matters, banned individuals, and ongoing security concerns
  • Support venue leadership during emergencies, evacuations, medical incidents, fires, and other critical events
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and recommend practical mitigation strategies
  • Evaluate access control, camera coverage, lighting, physical security, staffing levels, and operational procedures
  • Identify potential risks involving guests, employees, vendors, contractors, and property
  • Assist in developing and updating venue specific security procedures and emergency plans
  • Maintain awareness of emerging security threats affecting Tao venues and nightlife operations
  • Ensure security personnel understand that security and hospitality are complementary responsibilities
  • Promote professional, respectful, and discreet interactions with guests
  • Ensure personnel appropriately handle intoxicated, disruptive, or non-compliant guests while minimizing unnecessary escalation
  • Support venue management in maintaining a safe environment without unnecessarily negatively impacting the guest experience
  • Address guest concerns professionally and escalate matters when appropriate
  • Assist with security planning and execution for VIP events, celebrity appearances, private events, buyouts, premieres, and other high-profile functions
  • Coordinate staffing, access control, credentialing, perimeter security, guest screening, and emergency response planning
  • Work closely with venue management, event producers, talent representatives, and other stakeholders
  • Adjust security operations based on event specific intelligence and risk considerations
  • Assist and/ or complete additional tasks as assigned

EDUCATION/WORKING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of security, law enforcement, military, emergency services, or related supervisory experience; hospitality or nightlife security experience strongly preferred
  • Previous experience supervising security personnel in a high-volume environment
  • Strong understanding of security operations, access control, incident management, and emergency response
  • Previous experience working with NYPD or other municipal law-enforcement agencies preferred
  • Previous experience working with surveillance systems, access control systems, incident management platforms, or security technology preferred
  • Previous experience managing security operations for VIPs, celebrities, executives, or high-profile events preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Experience managing multiple venues or geographically dispersed security teams preferred
  • New York State security credentials/licenses required as applicable to the position
