Tarro is building the future of restaurant infrastructure. The U.S. restaurant industry is a trillion-dollar market, but it remains relatively underserved by technology. Running a restaurant comes with a never-ending list of operational work, and many owners spend most of their day on what they have to do rather than what they want to do. We’re a lean team with top talent from OpenAI, Meta, Google, Tesla, Square, Stripe, Shopify, and Citadel. We’re scrappy builders who love to roll up our sleeves and get into the details of improving a restaurant’s operations. Many of us regularly work in restaurants to experience firsthand what our users deal with.

We move quickly, keep process light, and expect high standards of craft. Our leaders stay hands-on, and our teams have the autonomy to make decisions and the responsibility to see them through.

At Tarro, product judgment and technical execution belong together. You’ll be trusted to understand the restaurant’s problem, decide how to solve it, and carry the solution through to something people use every day. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Data Engineer to help build and scale Tarro’s data infrastructure as we continue to expand our product portfolio and customer base. You’ll play a foundational role in shaping how data is collected, modeled, validated, and consumed across the company.

This is a high-impact opportunity to work in a fast-paced, profitable startup where you’ll have real ownership, move quickly, and see your work directly influence product and business outcomes.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

- You will build and evolve Tarro’s core data infrastructure and foundational datasets

- You will design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines that support analytics, machine learning, experimentation, and product use cases

- You will ensure data quality and reliability by implementing audits, alerting, and anomaly detection at scale

- You will partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver trusted, actionable data

- You will contribute to shared data engineering tooling, standards, and best practices to improve team productivity and output quality

- You will help establish long-term data architecture that scales with Tarro’s growth

ABOUT YOU

- You have 5+ years of experience building and operating production-grade data pipelines

- You have a strong understanding of scalable, performant data modeling patterns across structured and unstructured data sources

- You have a proven ability to work cross-functionally to design data architectures that support analytics, machine learning, and experimentation

- You have experience building and operating fault-tolerant, distributed systems

- You have hands-on experience working in a cloud environment such as AWS or GCP

- You are a self-starter who thrives in an environment with high ownership, limited process, and lots of autonomy

- You care deeply about building reliable systems that solve real customer and business problems

BONUS POINTS

- You have experience in a consumer driven industry with a passion for the customer.

- You have a BS / MS / PhD in Computer Science or a related field

- You have experience with analytics and BI tools such as Looker or Tableau

- You have prior experience building data platforms or products from 0 to 1 in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment

- You have a roll up your sleeves mentality with current or prior experience working in a fast paced, collaborative, highly ambiguous environment frequently wearing more than one hat.
