The posting

You will join an experienced Art Department. The successful candidate will require good technical knowledge of photography and an A level/Diploma in the subject or experience in this area would be an advantage. You will be required to support learning though the preparation of resources for lessons covering our Art & Photography areas, as well as maintaining resources and equipment for both areas. You must have good organisational skills, an eye for detail, as well as a passion for the subject and working with young people. You must be pro-active and flexible.

The Role

As the Art & Photography Technician, you will be :

  • Organising and managing equipment and resources ensuring all Art & Photography equipment is clean, well maintained and ready for use. Will include minor maintenance and arranging for repairs.
  • Setting up the Photography Studio and other areas for small groups of students.
  • Helping students use various pieces of equipment.
  • Setup and technical assistance for KS4 Photography. To include lunch time and after school sessions to help students complete all assignments required for their course. Support other staff in the Department.
  • Act as Photographer for key school events e.g. Sports Day, Open Evening, Celebration Evenings etc
  • Responsible for taking new staff and new student photos for use on Arbor.
  • Processing, editing and filing all photographs taken.
  • Create displays and prepare for exhibitions of students work ensuring it complies with the requirements.
  • Maintain existing long-term displays across the school. Repairing any damage caused to artwork and reporting any damage to building where appropriate.
  • Maintaining inventory records and stock control within the Department. Producing orders for the Head of Department to sign.
  • May be required to assist Drama with staging & school productions.
  • Complies with current health and safety procedures/good practice at all times. Supports the risk assessment process within the Department.
  • Other duties as required relevant to the post.
