Join The Astley Cooper School and make a real difference to young people

Are you organised, approachable and passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential? Do you have excellent administrative and communication skills and enjoy working in a busy school environment?

The Astley Cooper School is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Attendance Administrator to join our team and play an important role in supporting excellent student attendance.

Attendance is an important part of ensuring that students are able to access their education and achieve their potential. Working closely with students, parents, carers, staff and the wider pastoral team, you will help monitor attendance, follow up absences and lateness, maintain accurate records and support the school in addressing attendance concerns.

This is a busy and varied role, requiring someone who is highly organised, professional and able to communicate confidently with a wide range of people. You will need to be able to work accurately under pressure, manage competing priorities and use your own initiative while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who are organised, reliable and approachable, with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing a high-quality service to students, parents and colleagues.

The successful candidate will

  • Be organised, reliable and able to manage and prioritise a varied workload in a busy school environment.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to communicate positively and professionally with students, parents, carers and staff.
  • Monitor student attendance and punctuality, identifying patterns and concerns and ensuring appropriate follow-up takes place.
  • Contact parents and carers regarding absence, lateness and attendance concerns in a professional and sensitive manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date attendance records and ensure information is recorded promptly and appropriately.
  • Work closely with pastoral staff, tutors, teachers and school leaders to support effective attendance procedures.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies or issues within attendance information.
  • Be confident using IT systems and a range of software to maintain records, communicate with colleagues and support attendance administration.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion, integrity and professionalism.
  • Be able to work independently while also contributing positively to a supportive and collaborative school team.
  • Remain calm and professional when working under pressure and when dealing with challenging or sensitive situations.
  • Be committed to promoting positive attendance and supporting students to overcome barriers to attending school.

Previous experience of working in a school or educational setting would be an advantage, although it is not essential. We would also welcome applications from candidates with strong administration, customer service or communication experience who can demonstrate transferable skills and a genuine interest in supporting young people.

An interest in training as a first aider would also be desirable.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
