We are seeking Childcare Support staff to join our after-school provision at Wolvercote Primary School. Following recent building refurbishments and school expansions, our site features modern indoor spaces and extensive outdoor grounds where pupils aged 4 to 11 can play, move, and relax safely after the school day ends.

Why This Role Matters

Our After School Club team ensures that pupils transition smoothly from the structured school day into a safe, engaging evening environment. Whether supervising outdoor play, leading sports and games, or facilitating daily snack times, your role is central to supporting the personal development and wellbeing of our children.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience of working effectively and empathetically with children.
  • The ability to encourage positive play, outdoor movement, and active participation.
  • An understanding of child development and emotional needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Resilience, adaptable problem-solving skills, and the enthusiasm to share your interests with pupils.

The "Why Us" Difference

  • Community Connection: Join a school with a supportive team, an active PTA, and committed Governors rooted in the local area.
  • Predictable Working Schedules: Term-time hours structured between 2:45 pm and 6:00 pm to support a healthy work-life balance.

The RLT Connection

Wolvercote Primary School is part of the River Learning Trust. We are committed to an all-round education where both pupils and staff are supported to flourish. Joining RLT provides:

  • Professional Security: Access to a secure, government-backed pension scheme (LGPS) and full recognition of prior continuous public sector service.
  • Shared Growth: Access to Trust-wide CPLD networks, training, and funded professional development pathways.
  • The Whole Person: 24/7 access to our Employee Assistance Programme and a workplace culture designed around wellbeing.

How to Apply & Connect

  • Discover Your Impact: Read the full Job Description and submit your application online.
  • Start a Conversation: We encourage candidates to visit the school. To arrange a tour or an informal conversation, please contact the school office on 01865 558301 or visit our website at http://www.wolvercoteprimary.org.
  • The Future Path: Not the right time? Register with our Talent Pool to hear about future opportunities first. Education has the power to change lives, communities and society for the better. At RLT we believe that we can achieve more for our pupils, trainees, staff and communities by working together rather than alone. Schools in RLT are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to shared principles.

OUR VISION is for our schools and SCITT to improve rapidly, continuously and sustainably: to be better faster together.

OUR ‘WHY?’ is that children and young people ‘only get one go’ in school and therefore as part of RLT we aim to ensure the best possible ‘go’ for our pupils.

OUR ‘HOW?’ is through the highest support and challenge for our schools and each other, underpinned by our principles.

Our employees benefit from a wide variety of support including extensive continuing professional learning and development opportunities, wellbeing and staff networks and access to Defined Benefit Pension Schemes (TPS and LGPS) for all staff. For more information on what it is like to work for the Trust, and the benefits you could access, please see our “Working in RLT” guide.

This role includes regulated activity relevant to children.

The school reserves the right to consider and interview candidates ahead of the closing date if appropriate. An offer may be made to an exceptional candidate in this instance.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
