The posting

Are you flexible, innovative and deeply empathetic and looking for a role where you can truly make a difference?

STARS is in an exciting stage of continued development and expansion. We are seeking a highly skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated learning support assistant to join our inspiring team. We are a Medical PRU committed to ‘Empowering every child to engage with education.’

STARS was judged as outstanding in the most recent Ofsted inspection (February 2024). We work with children and young people with complex medical needs who are unable, either temporarily or longer term, to access their mainstream school. The majority of pupils attend the Drapers Centre in Carshalton where they are able to access the curriculum in small groups in a nurturing and therapeutic setting. Other pupils may receive 1-1 individual tuition at various sites within the London Borough of Sutton including the school room at the Royal Marsden Hospital. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals wishing to make a real difference to young people’s lives.

Why STARS?

  • No day will ever be the same: Experience a dynamic, varied, and challenging environment where you will be rewarded daily.

  • Professional growth: An opportunity to develop specialist skills in a highly complex and rewarding area of education, working alongside experienced, dedicated professionals.
  • Supportive environment: Join a team that values creativity, collaboration, and a compassionate approach to education.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting students: Support students to engage in STARS, adapting your approach to meet the diverse needs of students. Help in a wide variety of aspects throughout the day taking initiative where appropriate and working to continually ensure every student is safe and supported.
  • Reintegration focus: Working with students who have been out of mainstream education for long periods due to medical reasons, helping them to build resilience and develop skills to prepare for a successful return.
  • Multi-site travel: Being comfortable and willing to travel between various sites as required to best support our students in their journey to reintegrate back into mainstream.
  • Collaborative practice: Working closely with all staff across the provision to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to student well-being and education.
  • Innovation: Contributing to our ongoing mission to re-think our approach to engaging children and teaching at STARS, bringing fresh ideas and innovative methods to the classroom.
  • Supporting staff: Taking initiative to support other members of the team to ensure they are able to fulfill their roles to the best of their ability.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
