Location: St Bernadette's Catholic Primary School, Cookgate, Nunthorpe, TS7 0PZ

We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and dedicated Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teacher to join our team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a nursery class, maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and care. You will use your professional judgment and understanding of early child development to support purposeful play, warm relationships, and steady routines.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Have experience of working within EYFS, or a strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
  2. Provide a warm, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
  3. Plan and deliver engaging learning opportunities through play, exploration and first-hand experiences.
  4. Understand the importance of communication and language and early vocabulary development.
  5. Support children’s Personal, Social and Emotional Development, confidence, independence and resilience.
  6. Promote physical development, including fine and gross motor skills.
  7. Develop early reading, phonics, writing and mathematical understanding.
  8. Provide high-quality continuous provision indoors and outdoors.
  9. Use children’s interests and experiences to extend learning and develop curiosity.
  10. Promote the school’s motto: “Live Life to the Full.”
  11. Support Catholic Social Teaching, including care for others, the common good, dignity and stewardship of creation.
  12. Work positively with families, colleagues, the parish and wider school community.
  13. Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive and nurturing Catholic school environment.
  14. Show a strong commitment to the distinctive Catholic ethos and values of our school
  15. Have high expectations of children’s attainment, progress and behaviour
  16. Have a commitment to outstanding teaching and learning
  17. Be driven by a strong moral purpose to inspire, motivate and empower pupils to make the best possible progress
  18. Love to learn and be dedicated to their own professional development
  19. Have good organisational and communication skills
  20. Be able to work collaboratively within a team committed to excellence and continuous school improvement
  21. Support and promote the faith life and wider life of the school
