An Exceptional Opportunity for an Ambitious Middle Leader

We are seeking an ambitious and talented Head of Mathematics to lead one of the school's most important curriculum areas at an exciting stage in our development. As we continue to strengthen outcomes, raise aspirations, and provide exceptional opportunities for every child, we are looking for a leader who is passionate about securing excellence in mathematics and making a lasting difference to students' life chances.

This is an opportunity for a leader with the credibility, drive, and expertise to build on existing strengths and lead a department that is committed to achieving the very best outcomes for all students.

The Opportunity

As Head of Mathematics, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the department, driving high standards of teaching, learning, achievement, and curriculum development across the all Key Stages.

You will work closely with senior leaders and colleagues across the school to develop an ambitious curriculum, support excellent classroom practice, and ensure that every student is equipped with the mathematical knowledge, confidence, and problem-solving skills they need to succeed.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a highly influential department, develop the expertise of colleagues, and play a key role in the ongoing improvement and future success of the school. For the right candidate, it is an excellent platform from which to further develop their leadership career while making a tangible impact on students, staff, and the wider school community.

Why Join Us?

  • Lead a department with the power to transform life chances through excellent Mathematics education.
  • Work in a school where leaders are trusted, supported, and encouraged to think ambitiously.
  • Be part of a school that values professional dialogue, challenge, and continuous improvement.
  • An opportunity for the right leader to bring fresh ideas, build relationships, and make a lasting impact.
  • Join a team with significant expertise and the potential to achieve even greater success under strong leadership.
  • Access exceptional professional development through our Trust and wider networks.
  • Shape a curriculum that inspires confidence, curiosity, and academic success.
  • Be part of a school with high expectations, strong values, and a relentless commitment to improvement.
  • Work within a culture that values honesty and professionalism.
  • Enjoy the rewards of teaching and leading in one of the most stunning parts of the country, on the South Devon coast.

What We Offer

We know that exceptional schools are built by exceptional people. As part of our team, you will benefit from:

  • A vibrant and values-driven school community
  • Talented, dedicated and supportive colleagues
  • Trust-wide professional learning and leadership development
  • Bespoke coaching and mentoring
  • Opportunities for career progression across a successful Trust
  • A culture that prioritises staff wellbeing and professional growth
  • The chance to make a lasting difference to the lives of young people

Living Our Values. Transforming Life Chances.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. We are driven by the Thinking Schools Academy Trust values of Child First, Aspire, Challenge and Achieve, and we expect our leaders to do more than understand these values. We expect them to bring them to life every day.

As a member of our Middle Leadership Team, you will place children at the centre of decision-making, inspire excellence in others, embrace challenge as a catalyst for growth and relentlessly pursue the very best outcomes for every pupil. Through your leadership, you will help shape a culture where ambition is encouraged, potential is realised and life chances are transformed.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
