The posting

Swinton Academy is at the heart of the Swinton community. We are committed to making a real difference to the lives of our young people and providing outstanding learning and enrichment opportunities throughout their time with us. To achieve this, we need dedicated and exceptional staff who will contribute to our inclusive and ambitious learning community.

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within our Integrated Resource provision. The successful candidate will be committed to supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), safeguarding, and promoting the values and ethos of the Academy.

As a HLTA within the Integrated Resource, you will:

  • Support the learning, progress and wellbeing of pupils with SEND, enabling them to access a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff and external agencies to deliver high-quality provision tailored to individual needs.
  • Complement teachers' delivery of the curriculum and contribute to the development of teaching assistants and students within the Academy.
  • Assist with planning, preparation of resources and the delivery of targeted interventions and personalised learning programmes.
  • Consistently demonstrate the expectations outlined in the HLTA Standards.
  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers where appropriate.
  • Support pupils to develop confidence, independence, communication and social skills.
  • Contribute to the professional development of colleagues across the Trust, sharing effective SEND practice.
  • Promote positive values, attitudes and behaviour, helping to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Engage, motivate and inspire pupils to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
  • Advance learning outcomes across a range of classroom and specialist provision settings.

*You will be based at Swinton Academy but the role may involve working at other academies within the trust.

Safeguarding

ACET is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All applicants should read our safeguarding Policy and Safer Recruitment Policy, which are available on the ‘policy’ section of our academy websites.

It is an offence to seek employment in regulated activity if you are barred from working with children. Guidance on this can be found at https://www.gov.uk /government/publications/new-guidance-on-the-rehabilitation-of-offenders-act-1974.

Successful candidates will be subject to a DBS check at the appropriate level. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a self-declaration related to their criminal record or any information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. If you have lived or worked outside of the UK, additional information may be required from you to satisfy safer recruitment checks.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
