The posting

Role Purpose and Responsibilities

  • To establish and maintain calm, positive behaviour so that every pupil can learn, with any class from Nursery to Year 6.
  • To deliver lessons planned by the class teacher to whole classes, groups and individuals, including PPA cover and short-term absence cover; to mark work from lessons covered; and to deliver interventions.
  • To ensure their safety and welfare and support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life.
  • Any duties as may be reasonably directed by the Headteacher and the accountabilities expected of support staff at Osmani.

Requirements

Are you:

  • Somebody who holds HLTA status, or is working towards it with a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience of supporting whole class learning.
  • Somebody who can establish calm, positive behaviour with whole classes of any age, applying the school’s behaviour policy consistently, fairly and firmly.
  • Somebody with secure knowledge across the primary curriculum who can confidently deliver lessons planned by the class teacher, lead whole classes independently and cover teacher absences
  • Somebody who can direct the work of Learning Support Assistants in the classroom
  • Somebody who is ICT proficient (able to use Word and Publisher programmes)
  • Somebody who is flexible, hardworking and passionate about their work
  • Somebody who is able to work as part of a team.
  • Resilient, flexible and adaptable
  • Somebody who enjoys working with children and has some experience of working with children with Special Education Needs
