About this Role

We are currently seeking a talented professional to join Wey Valley Academy as Lead Practitioner in Maths. This is an exciting opportunity to make a measurable impact on teaching standards and student outcomes.

Staff at Wey Valley have a strong moral purpose to provide an outstanding education for all students; we are an inclusive academy at the heart of the community. Staff are absolutely committed to changing the lives of all young people; we are seeking a new colleague who will share our inclusive and positive ethos as our pupil numbers continue to rise and we become the school of choice in Weymouth and the surrounding area. Currently, our Trust is in the process of merging with United Learning, the largest Trust in the UK. United Learning believe in ‘the best in everyone’ and have a strong track record of improving educational outcomes.

As Lead Practitioner in Maths you will lead a core subject that has a direct impact on students life chances. You will model and support high quality teaching across the Academy, develop teaching practice and build a culture of high expectations where all students can succeed. You will work closely with senior leaders to drive improvement, ensuring that the department delivers consistently strong outcomes and provides a high-quality learning experience for every student. The role of the Lead Practitioner is to raise standards and develop teaching and learning in Mathematics across the Academy. To ensure that the aims of the Academy are effectively translated into high quality classroom practice both within the subject and in general across the Academy.

What We have to Offer:

A visible and approachable senior leadership team and an enthusiastic and committed team of teachers and support staff.

Outstanding staff support within the school and wider trust support from United Learning, as part of a national network of 130 schools.

All staff are part of a professional learning community in which evidence-informed CPD is designed to meet individual needs. We run a successful coaching programme to make sure teaching and learning continues to improve at every level.

Strong potential for career progression and a tailored CPD programme for middle leaders, including expertise and coaching from United Learning.

A culture that respects work-life balance and an ongoing commitment to wellbeing.

An Employee Assistance Programme including ‘in the moment’ support and counselling sessions with an external provider.

A competitive pension through Teachers’ Pensions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
