Do you take pride in maintaining high standards, leading teams, and creating safe, welcoming environments for young people to thrive?

If so, Astrea Academy Sheffield would love to hear from you!

Astrea Academy Sheffield is a vibrant all-through academy serving both primary and secondary-aged scholars. As part of Astrea Academy Trust, we are committed to providing an exceptional education founded on our values of Tenacity, Empathy, Curiosity, Scholarship and Happiness. Creating a safe, secure and inspiring environment is fundamental to achieving this vision, and our Site Manager plays a vital role in making that possible.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, proactive and skilled Site Manager to oversee the maintenance, safety and general upkeep of our academy buildings and grounds.

This is a key leadership role within our operations team, responsible for ensuring that both our primary and secondary sites are maintained to a high standard, providing a safe, secure and welcoming environment for scholars, staff and visitors alike.

Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will lead the Site Team, oversee planned and reactive maintenance, and ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and statutory requirements.

This role requires flexibility, with working shifts scheduled between 6:30am and 7:00pm in line with the operational needs of the academy.

Key Responsibilities

As our Site Manager, you will:

  • Lead, manage and support the Site Team, ensuring a consistently high standard of service across the academy.
  • Take overall responsibility for the maintenance, presentation and security of academy buildings and grounds.
  • Act as a key holder, overseeing opening and closing procedures and maintaining site security.
  • Carry out and coordinate general repairs, maintenance and improvement works.
  • Support compliance with statutory requirements, including fire safety, legionella management and health and safety regulations.
  • Manage contractors on site and monitor the quality of completed works.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and ensure maintenance records are accurately maintained.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents and site-related issues.
  • Ensure external areas, pathways and grounds are safe, clean and well maintained.
  • Work collaboratively with academy leaders and the Trust Estates Team to continuously improve the learning environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has significant experience in site, premises, facilities or building management.
  • Holds a recognised trade qualification or has substantial experience in a relevant trade such as joinery, plumbing or general building maintenance.
  • Has experience of managing teams and supporting staff development.
  • Possesses strong knowledge of building maintenance, health and safety requirements and risk assessments.
  • Is highly organised, adaptable and able to prioritise competing demands.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards and finding practical solutions.
  • Shares our commitment to providing the very best environment for children and young people.
  • Ideally has experience working within an educational setting, although this is not essential.

What We Offer

  • Excellent CPD and professional development opportunities.
  • Access to Astrea Academy Trust's extensive support networks and expertise.
  • A collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • The opportunity to lead and shape an important operational function within a thriving academy.
  • Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Employee Assistance Programme and wellbeing support.
  • Access to a wide range of Trust benefits and staff discounts.
  • A full list of benefits can be found in our Join Our Team brochure.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
