About the Role
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, ambitious and inspirational Subject Leader of Physical Education to lead our highly successful PE department and build upon its recent achievements. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher and leader to shape the future direction of PE, sport and physical wellbeing across the whole school, including Sixth Form.
The successful candidate will join a thriving Catholic school community where students are well behaved, motivated and eager to participate both in lessons and in the extensive programme of extracurricular sport. The department enjoys a strong reputation for academic and sporting excellence and plays a central role in school life.
The Role
This is a full time permanent role. As Subject Leader of PE, you will provide strategic leadership for the department, ensuring that all students are inspired to achieve their full potential in both physical education and sport. You will:
Lead and manage a successful and dedicated PE team
Drive continued improvement in student achievement and progress across all key stages
Develop and enhance a broad, ambitious and engaging PE curriculum
Monitor and evaluate teaching, learning and assessment to secure excellent outcomes
Promote inclusion and participation for all students
Further develop the school's strong extracurricular and competitive sports programme
Foster a culture of excellence, enjoyment and lifelong participation in physical activity
About the Department
PE is a vibrant, high-performing and highly valued subject within the school. The department has enjoyed significant recent success, both in examination outcomes and competitive sport, and plays a central role in promoting the school's culture of aspiration, teamwork and excellence.
In recent years, students have achieved strong outcomes in GCSE and Post-16 PE courses, with consistently high levels of progress and engagement. The department has also celebrated success across a range of competitive sports, with teams regularly competing and achieving success at local, district and county level. Participation in extracurricular sport continues to flourish, with large numbers of students representing the school and contributing to its reputation for sporting excellence.
The PE department is committed to developing the whole child and provides a broad programme of opportunities including competitive sport, leadership development, officiating, coaching and enrichment activities. Students are encouraged to develop resilience, confidence, teamwork and leadership skills alongside their academic achievements.
We are looking for a leader who can build upon these recent successes, further strengthen examination outcomes and continue to grow participation and achievement across the school.

Is an outstanding teacher of PE with a proven track record of securing excellent outcomes
Has the vision and leadership skills to continue developing an already successful department
Demonstrates strong curriculum knowledge across Key Stages 3, 4 and Post-16
Can inspire students of all abilities to achieve success and develop a lifelong love of physical activity
Has high expectations of achievement, behaviour and participation
Is committed to contributing to the wider life of the school through extracurricular sport and enrichment
