TEACHER OF MATHS

Permanent / Full Time Starting January 2027

Could St Nicholas be your next school?

If you are an ambitious and committed Maths teacher looking for a school where high standards, professional development, student achievement and staff wellbeing genuinely matter, we would love to hear from you.

St Nicholas Catholic High School is an exceptional school with a strong reputation for academic achievement, excellent behaviour and a vibrant Catholic community. Our students are ambitious, engaged and eager to learn, while our staff are committed to ensuring that every young person fulfils their God-given potential.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly effective Teacher of Maths to join our successful and forward-thinking Maths department. You will have a passion for learning and teaching Maths and the ability to inspire students across the full age and ability range.

This is an exciting opportunity for either an ECT or an experienced teacher who wants to develop their practice and career within a genuinely supportive and aspirational school.

Why St Nicholas?

Our examination outcomes are consistently strong and significantly above national averages, and the school continues to be oversubscribed. Our Maths department benefits from:

  • comprehensive and well-developed schemes of learning;
  • carefully planned and purposeful assessment;
  • high-quality curriculum resources;
  • a collaborative and supportive team;
  • a strong culture of professional development; and
  • opportunities to contribute to the continued development of Maths across the school.

Professional development is a genuine priority at St Nicholas. We invest in our staff and provide opportunities for colleagues at every stage of their career to develop their expertise and progress into leadership. As a school led by a National Leader in Education, we also play an active role in supporting improvement and professional learning beyond our own school community.

Everyone Matters

Our commitment to staff wellbeing is embedded in the life of the school. We have an established Wellbeing Charter, an active Staff Wellbeing Committee, and a dedicated staff and student gym. We recognise the importance of workload, professional autonomy and creating an environment where colleagues can thrive.

Our wellbeing work is supported by our experienced Governing Body and senior leadership team because we believe that looking after our staff is fundamental to creating the very best environment for our students.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is central to everything we do. We have a strong and experienced safeguarding team, including a number of Designated Safeguarding Leads with significant expertise. Our Executive Safeguarding Team meets weekly, and all staff receive regular safeguarding training and are expected to play an active role in maintaining our strong culture of safeguarding.

Come and see us

We warmly welcome visits to St Nicholas. We understand that visiting another school can be difficult when you are currently working elsewhere, so a visit is not a requirement of the application process.

We encourage you to explore our website and discover more about our school, our students and our community:

If you are excited by the opportunity to join St Nicholas and believe you can make a positive difference to our students, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
