Job title: Teacher of Media Studies
Reports to: Head of Media Studies

This is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding, ambitious and passionate Teacher of Media Studies to join the team.
Overview
To deliver high-quality, engaging and challenging Media Studies teaching across Key Stages 4 and 5, enabling students to develop a strong understanding of media industries, audiences, representations, language and contexts.
The successful candidate will inspire students to become critical, creative and confident media practitioners and analysts, while contributing positively to the wider life and development of the department and the Sixth Form.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons in Media Studies at GCSE and A Level/Sixth Form.
- Teach a broad range of media forms, including print, television, film, online and social media, advertising, magazines, music video and other relevant contemporary media.
- Develop students' ability to analyse media products critically and apply relevant theoretical concepts and terminology.
- Support students in developing practical production skills, including planning, research, photography, filming, editing, design and digital production where appropriate.
- Differentiate teaching effectively to meet the needs of students of differing abilities and backgrounds.
- Set appropriate homework, coursework and independent study activities.
- Assess students' work accurately and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Track student progress and implement appropriate interventions where required.
- Prepare students effectively for GCSE and A Level examinations and coursework/non-examined assessment.
Sixth Form Responsibilities
- Teach and support students undertaking Media Studies at post-16 level.
- Develop students' independence, academic confidence and ability to undertake extended critical and analytical work.
- Provide effective guidance on coursework, independent research and examination preparation.
- Contribute to Sixth Form enrichment, including academic mentoring, university and careers guidance where appropriate.
- Encourage students to develop the skills required for progression to higher education, apprenticeships, employment and further study.
