The posting

At Lift Schools, we believe education transforms lives. Four Dwellings Academy are looking for a teaching assistant to join our team and help make that belie real for every child, every day.

Your new school

Four Dwellings Academy is part of Lif Schools, a national trust of 62 schools across the country, including 10 schools in the Midlands.

Led by Principal Claire Stoneman, the school has undergone significant transformation and improvement. We are proud to be known as a "small school with a big heart", where students are supported in a nurturing and ambitious environment.

Recent highlights include:

  • Most improved school in South Birmingham for progress in 2024
  • Among the most improved schools nationally
  • A recent Good Ofsted judgement
  • The best GCSE results in the school's history

Our school values are built around the Three R's:

  • Respect - treating others with kindness and dignity
  • Resilience - persevering through challenges
  • Responsibility - taking ownership of our actions and our futures

These values underpin our culture and guide the way we support our students every day.

Your new role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students achieve their full potential by supporting their learning, personal development and wellbeing. Working in partnership with teachers and pastoral colleagues, you will help create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment where every student feels supported, challenged and valued.

You will work with students both in the classroom and through targeted interventions, helping them overcome barriers to learning, develop independence and build the confidence they need to succeed academically and personally. Through your support, encouragement and positive relationships, you will help improve outcomes and ensure that all students can thrive.

We are looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about working with young people and committed to making a lasting difference to their educational journey. You will be able to build positive relationships with students, work effectively as part of a team and remain calm and professional when supporting students with a range of learning and pastoral needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals
  • Working alongside teachers to deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences
  • Delivering targeted support and interventions for individual students and small groups
  • Encouraging students to develop independence, resilience and confidence in their learning
  • Supporting students' social, emotional and mental wellbeing in line with school policies and procedures
  • Monitoring student engagement and progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Assisting in the preparation and adaptation of learning resources to meet the needs of all learners
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and purposeful learning environment
  • Supporting educational visits, enrichment activities and wider school events
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, the SENDCo and parents/carers to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent qualifications
  • Has experience working with children and young people
  • Can build positive and productive relationships with students
  • Is calm, resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced school environment
  • Can work effectively as part of a team
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
  • Has excellent organisational skills and can manage competing priorities

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
